Why put 2 groups of players on one team and have all NPC corp players on the other team? Surely it would make sense to put 1 group on one side and 1 group on the other?
I have just played DUST for 2 and a half hours and we got our asses handed to us, every. single. time. Each game was extremely unbalanced and I was on the losing side for EVERY game.
Have the new players play the new players and the veteran players play the veteran players.
I like to play solo but am absolutely sick to death of the fact that there is no matchmaking in this game whatsoever and don't like to me and say there is because there isn't.
Or is the player count really that low that you can't physically place even teams against each other?

EDIT: I've worked it out, the matchmaking works backwards. I'm in an NPC corp and over the course of 2.5 hours I had less than 10 people across all my teams who WEREN'T in NPC corps.
What DUST does is it searches for the best players available and puts them against the worst players available. Otherwise why would it put 2 stacked groups on one team and all NPC players on another?
It's not just a coincidence, the matchmaking works backwards. Think about it, when you're in a squad who do you play against mostly? Randoms! Is there more chance of there being another squad on your team than the enemy's team? Yes!
But like I said it could be because nobody but experienced players play this game anymore because all the BS has scared new players away.

I just played for 2.5 hours and got protostomped and lost every single game. take it for what you want. the matchmaking works backwards or doesn't work at all due to low player counts. |

Well currently the matchmaking system is based on your region and your game-mode selection, along with whether or not you are in a squad. Your corporation status (Player, NPC, and leaderboard position has not effect on his game matchmaking system.
Speaking of playerbase, I feel sorry for you because you will probably be flooded by people calling you a stupid worthless noob. |

I'm not a n00b, first game today I got 2500WP I just can't play when my entire team is being held up on the mountains with no where to spawn whilst the enemy teams holds all 4 or 5 objectives.

Thing is I don't play solo because I'm hoping to play scrubs.
I'm not asking to play scrubs. I'm asking for even games.
Some of the best games I've played (on other shooters) have been teams full of new players because they're not worrying about KDR, they're all on an even playing field and they're all pushing the objective. On smaller less confusing maps of course. |

I'm complaining because I lost every game in 2.5 hours, and lost by a BIG margin.
I know I'm going to lose and come up against good players, but why every single game?
All I did tonight was lose ISK, I can only lose a certain amount of ISK. The meta of this game promotes camping like a little ***** and what happens when I die 5 times? Should I back out? Because I'm going ISK negative if I don't.

that and they should have PVE missions for new players and give them 1m SP. face new players against new players instead of rushing to get people into games in 7 seconds and people will actually stay in this game.
seriously why does the matchmaking not just take a little bit longer? stop rushing to get people into games because they don't want to wait because guaranteed people will much rather wait a little longer in the Q if they know they will have a good game and not get stomped on. |

THAT is a good point. But me playing in a squad makes it too easy, so im actually looking for a challenge, get my butt kicked and feel im leading the blues. My K-D ratio suffers for it greatly, but im looking to have fun, not pad stats.
THEN AGAIN, im saying CrotchGrab is Right, but im not complaining about it. 50k WP *but then you still have the option to play battles in the battle academy, acting as a safety net for new players who think that they still need some more time
100k WP *This is when the battle academy option should be removed, as by the time new players reach 100k WP they should already have enough knowledge of how to play the game and should be in at least STD gear.
I choose WP because it is the only true test of skill in this game. New players who have been in other FPSs (Battlefield, Halo, MAG, COD, etc. will get lots of kills easily, but WP is the only think that determines whether or not a person is good in THIS GAME. |

You win some, you lose some. Your task is to do the best. Get the most kills, earn the most WP, capture and hold the most objectives.
In Skirmish games, take it upon myself to capture and hold one NULL Cannon. The other 15 blueberries can handle the rest. Sometimes I wait around in bordum, sometimes I'm taking on the entire team by myself. My mission is to protect my objective. It takes a team to win or lose, and you can't always be on the best team; be the best player. Be the guy the corps on the other team send hate mail to or ask you to join them. |

Really, really not a good game mechanic....
Rule 1 shoot them in the back. Rule two: follow rule 1.
Is the letter going from blue to orange? AVOID!! Run away! and come back later! Kill loners then wait for a bluberry to hack and kill the orange dot trying to kill the bluberry thats hacking.
I have a lot of ISK from running pubs. I run Militia Minmatar scout/uplink then change to starter fit Medic-Assault. Its 6 and 2 most times but I can die 100 times in a match and still make lots of ISK.
Get those core skills up: biotics, shelds, armour, cpu, electronics, pg boost till then just run cheap fits.
Earn two to three million ISK per day then when those skills are up then begin using basic or advanced suits.
I now run a gek most games ( I purchased 1000 geks) with a militia minmatar suit or sometimes an advanced amar logistics.
But I prefer militia fits. Why? Its fun killing better quality geared folks??
And yes I have a lot of Duvolle AR, viziams, proto hmg, forges, sl,
My last game was militia scout/exilie AR for 1/2 the game. |

WP isnt the problem, SP is Can a brand new player with a brand new player take down a player in full proto kit because he has FPS experience from other games? Hell yeah he can but its going to a very difficult fight against someone with more health, doing more damage, and a bunch of other bonuses based solely on that characters skills and not that players skills |

Guys you cant possibly say the match maker is better now that it was before?
Sure the old matchmaker had its problems but around 1.2 - 1.3 it was working ok-ish. Then we got the new matchmaker in 1.4 and just like the OP said, it really does seem to work backwards.
The amount of times I have saw two squads on the same team vs not even an even number of randoms on the opposing side. It seems like the game drags in a squad for each side, as if its about to balance the game but it just puts them together instead of apart. |
