I solo very consistently, and have been climbing the the charts over time. If you play many public matches you can absolutely tell when you are doing well kd/r // WP wise because you are on the side with a proficient proto squad or whether its due to actual contribution. It definitely gives you better tactical decision making when you are the one that has to: drop the strategic uplinks, guard a point, provide area denial, eliminate enemy spawns, switch to AV because of murder taxis taking your guys out.
Once you are familiar with the different roles it helps you to predict enemy movements and patterns as well.
.. After re reading this it makes sense why I have so many fits and am spec'd into five weapons. Lol |

Maybe the squad finder in 1.5 will allow me to find better squads. I've been playing since beta, and no matter how hard I try, I can't figure out how to survive in a squad. I keep trying over and over again. But when I am solo, I can acquire 3000 points and die 0-3 times. When I squad, I die like 11 times and get like 250 points. I don't understand the developers need to put pressure on people to squad. I know there are people who squad who do fine for themselves. I don't know how they do it, unless they stay behind the squad and let them take the brunt of the enemy For me, it won't matter what changes they make that push squadding on us, I'll just be forced into making less points, but I can't survive (isk wise), if I try to squad regularly. Being in a squad doesn't help.

I solo 75% of the time, I'd approximate. I play with my small corporation, but many of our members (including myself) are full time students or workers in research intensive fields. As such, we rarely sync up schedules. I play about four nights a week, and about one of those every week we manage to squad up.
I run a scout fitting, so solo or in a squad the only tactical switch I make is reporting my recon results over the mic and THEN using them to track down and knife some poor red sod. Either way I'm running around hacking things like mad all by my lonesome. Though, in a battle where we have the enemy cornered, I much prefer having my squad there so I can flank more effectively.
I'm just really wary about being in a squad with random blueberries, it seems like a lot of barely useful pseudo- tactical chatter detailing glaringly obvious facts like "high ground is good" and a whole lot of whining over the comm. I tend to prefer radio silence if there's nothing tactically advantageous or situational to report. Although, we're all entitled to the occasional expletive when we get sniped or shotgunned.
Who knows, maybe Squad Finder will make it easier and quicker for us to siphon through all the blueberries to find a true-bluebro or two. |

I run solo in my std. gear most of the time. If I had to give a percentage it would problably be along the lines of 80% or more. Squads have their moments, but if I run with Eon players, I never kill anything because everyone is always dead by the time I get there, if I run with randoms they either don't have a mic or turn out to be little kids that I have to show how to play this game to and then they still quit. So pretty much no I don't often run around with a squad. |

Wow you hit the nail on the head for me. I have a couple of people I can squad with that are cool with my play style and I am cool with theirs. But I don't like to squad with many other people anymore because I hate hearing how they did everything right but the rest of the people in the squad somehow let them down, or didn't kill the guy with the swarm launcher so they lost their drop ship boo hoo. |

I would rather have mouth breathers than pissy sore-losers. Sometimes the only reason you lose a match is because your squad is the only ones doing anything. You check the board afterwards and sure enough, 7th place only got 500 wp, while almost every member in your squad got over 1200. It's like going into a match of 6 v 16 and telling yourself that you were evenly matched.
I'/ve found it to be both ways. You are correct, sometimes it's amazing to see your squad has places 1,2,3,4 on the leaderboard after the match. However, I've been in squads where I had position 1, and some of the squad has left the battle if it wasn't doing well, and also, when I died and look down to rez back in, I see all of my squad is in the hills. So I get the brunt of the bad k/d while they're playing patty cake with their sniper rifles.
I can do that on my own, and die a lot less if I know I'm responsible for just me. |

Based on input from this forum, I went against my better judgement and played in squades last all weekend. Basicly I helped the so called squad leaders get WP. I guess about 80 percent of the time the squad leader was running solo and I assume he only created the squad to leech off the squad members. These were all team squads, not Corp squads. The other 20 percent was either 8 year olds or people that only knew how to say F*** and S**** and M***F*** and Bas* and nothing but ranting. That's not much fun.
I guess I could say I run solo 100% of the time. |

I go solo almost every time, and I usually drop out of squads pretty quick if i join. Why?:
- I'm not very good. - If I want to hear pointless swearing and random noise, I'll go to an old folks' home. - I've yet to see anything resembling strategy in this shooter. - I've weighed uplinks for 5 vs uplinks for 12 or more. - I often get 1st - 3rd place on the LB with 0/2 Kills/Deaths or some such. That's just sad, people. |
