Smoke grenades might still have a place in Minmatar tech? You could also relatively easily call them "nanite haze" grenades or some such, if you prefer something more high tech. Don't create literal smoke per se, but a cloud of of nanotech particles that disrupt ocular sensors somehow or refract light to obstruct vision in, around and into an area. As you skill into them, the different levels could affect how much they interfere with the sight of your own squad/team, perhaps.
I'd like something of the ilk (preferably with different colors), not just for cover, but to mark areas on the overmap for orbitals. |

Some kind of electro flare grenade woud make sense. Its area of effect would be a bubble that scrambles visual input, that way you-¦d have a indeciferable bubble of interference, IFF disabled.
Instead of creating a smoke screen, you-¦d have a wall of scrambled audio feed for a short period of time. |

Pretty sure it's on the to-do list, actually...
Just remembered that the tanks have smoke launchers...

Smoke grenades are nice as a simple low tech option to provide cover. I would imagine them working around scanners or anything like that - they'd just literally obscure an area visually.
I would suspect scanned people's chevrons to still show up within a "smoked" area.
It could have a meaningful place even within EWAR. Imagine if we had jamming tech that could shot down player comms; you could use different colored smoke nades to signal to your team from afar what's going on without voice comms.
"Nanite haze", "Jamming Nades", and other sorts of functional grenades or equipment devices can co-exist side-by-side with smoke grenades. |

Great ~ I hope CCP can think about this , no matter how pro of scanner we equip sometime we may need to skip it by some smoke grenades or others ..... may this game more fun and more real , E-techno weak point all come from infra red to detect it , but some smoke can prevent to go thought , and may it un-function it ............ more real WAR more fun and experience in the Game ~ |

Smoke grenade and active scanner on a scout, pop the smoke, scan, run to the chevrons and shotgun away... Nade spam and assaulting a point, or hacking a point watched by a sniper. HUD shutdown nade paired with a smoke grenade.

speaking of red smoke. maybe we can carry red smoke to throw down so our sq leader knows where the orbital should go because it sux always having to carry an active scanner. |

I would LOVE a smoke grenade on my scout! I'd say basic smoke nade 12-15M, ADV 15-17M, pro 17-20M radius! it would be awesome to throw two into a group of reds and having 3 troops run in. GO NK/SG ARMY YOU CAN DESTROY THEM IF THEY CAN'T SEE YOU (besides we need every advantage we can get ) HAHAHAHAHAHA! |
