We've finally gotten time stamps, voice chat issues are pretty much resolved, we're getting the squad finder soon, squad sizes are at 6 now, we finally got rid of UVT's....
Things are really looking up as far as non-gameplay related tweaks and changes are concerned. So I would like to know 2 small things: Are "in match/in quarters" status indicators going to be in-game soon? And second, we've been asking for proximity chat in some form or another off and on for over a year now, is proximity chat at least on the roadmap yet?
For people who read this who don't know what proximity chat is (since I find myself explaining it all the time in-game):
Proximity chat - Anyone who is close enough to your character in battle can hear what you are saying over your headset be they enemy or ally.
I'm not making a case for proximity chat here, it's been gone over a billion times in other threads. I'm merely asking if it has been put on any roadmap. |

It would be helpful to organize people to squad up seeing as now they have gotten rid of War Barge waiting times for public matches and in most Dominations your squad will be the only squad! LOL |

I would only enjoy proximity chat if there were a way to turn it off/on. I don't want the enemy hearing me as I coordinate with my team on what to do. |

IGÇÖm sure if they did implement it, they wouldn't let the opposition hear what you were saying. Though saying that, they could release a new module that if fitted; lets your Dropsuit GÇ£tuneGÇ¥ into their proximity chat to find targets quicker. |

O_O other L.O.T.I.S. Members posting on the forum... I'm not alone!!!!
Anyway back on point, a status indicator would be awesome, would help setting up squads a lot, as for proxy chat... I'm mixed, on the one hand it would be a pretty cool feature, having scouts being able to eavesdrop on the enemy team etc but on the other it would probably cause a whole wealth of technical issues. |

... I think the idea is that it adds another layer to the (cough) tactical complexity of the game. If you want to give commands, move away from the enemy or not care that they can hear you. If the enemy wants to scream at you to distract and intimidate you, well, that's been part of war forever.
OTOH, I don't think this will ever be implimented in Dust. We all have helmets on and pretty good comms encryption |

Wallaby1 wrote:its the future bro , pretty sure they've improved their radios to go a bit further than 100m !! so y the proximity chat? just sayin The purpose of proximity chat is so that you can communicate with other people on your team who are nearby, such as that blue dot who just stole your tank/LAV/DS, or that logi nearby who has an armor repper when you need repairs. Or that guy running at you with an injector when you are still RIGHT IN FRONT OF ENEMY FIRE.
Proxy chat is also good for spying in on enemies who aren't careful what they say when they get close to your team. And, of course, in the hands of trolls, it can be used to shout "victory one-liners" at a victim as they die.
Example: A Thale sniper been tagging your team all match? Fly around behind him and squish him with a dropship, and right before you land on his head you shout "I HOPE YOU LIKE BARBECUE *****, 'CAUSE I'MA 'BOUT TA SLAP MY MEAT ALL UP ON YO GRILL!" -(insert your one-liner here).
And that, my friends, is how proximity chat males this game more fun for all. |

Yeah, that would be really nice. It wouldn't be a ton of help when you have people with noisy mics, but in general it would be a big improvement. Especially when you are playing with new players and they don't know everyone in the squad's voice yet. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but proxy chat in shooters is normally just for that a split second when you kill the enemy and you can hear him/her rage which imo would be pretty amazing its like instant hate mail.. (I think COD has this feature but I didn't spend enough time with it to really remember)

If not I don't think proxy chat should be anymore then that above.. |
