Here is one of, if not the biggest problems DUST has right now.
DUST is not EVE and most people that play Dust could give to flips about EVE.
Why?
Because CCP has not given us connection.
And to make things worse you have people like IWS telling us to make crap up and pretend.

Yeah, the half million people who play Eve Online TOTALLY needed someone to give them purpose, let me tell you.
Miners have more purpose than half of the Dust players. They're doing it for money. You guys? I dunno what you're doing anything for, honestly - and it shows that you don't either considering you have to ask for purpose.
I get no greater joy than dropping a Tactical Hybrid Strike for myself in PC. Got my television set up right next to my computer monitor. Hell, I even landed a kill in Eve Online while playing Dust 514:

And you know what's the saddest thing about this thread? The fact that the majority of you are seasoned Shooter veterans, either from Call of Duty, Battlefield, Unreal or what have you. Did you need any purpose in those games other than to kill? To win the match?
What did you die in those games for, eh?
Some silly flag that was still going to be there the next game? In that exact same place, just waiting to change colors? Some bomb that was still going to be there waiting to be armed/defused? Some silly killboard?
You want purpose, open up the Starmap and take a look at the Factional Warfare colors. Or the Planetary Conquest colors. Die for one of those. You didn't need any other reason for any other game, so quit your whining, suit up and go kill something.
When someone tells you to make your own purpose, they're not joking, they're not lying and saying they are just shows how ignorant you really are. |

That ended a long time ago; no one cares about PC or this game anymore. Once all of 1.5 content got delayed, no one cared anymore about this game. Thankfully for those who can easily afford the newer consoles or games, we have many other choices to pursue. |

Myself, I find that I play for the sake of fun.
I really don't care for the campaign and multiplayer link, cause they don't play any different cause they linked the two with a story
More reason to play the game when playing solo would be needed when
LP for fighting in FW
Contracts from big corps that are during a bad time
Know what happened to the District you were fighting in after the battle.
All of those provide a bigger push toward turn the PS3 on the next time. |

I really don't see how EvE lore effects us outside of FW. It's just a lobby shooter. We need real battles with bigger numbers and maps that can have installation drops already. The RP to this game is impossible outside of chat - actually in game all you'll be doing is the same thing over and over again like some cheap 90's game. |

I was born into a Gallente life, my Parents were both military and brought me up with a strong belief in the Gallente Federation. At age 16 after completing my education in dimplomacy and armor engineering I joined the Gellente Federation Military. At this point I became a vegetable I guess, my clones on the other hand visited many planets, and fought bravely in a lot of wars. At the age of 26 my contract to serve the Gallente was up. I chose to continue doing the only thing I really knew how, to kill. Now I was doing it on a money based attitude, fighting for other peoples beliefs and greed. At the age of 28 I joined the GIANT corpoartion, and helped them take and defend districts within Molden Heath, a small system with not much pull in the universe, nether the less competition was fierce and the money was good. After nearly 4 years of fighting with GIANT and learning new combat skills I left the corporation to persue my own greed. I formed the SLAPHAPPY BANDITS and hold no alliance to anyone, I fight for money and money only.
I guess my reason for dying is maybe the fact I don't die, my clones die, but I make sure I take as many clones with me as possibel. After I die the system will ask me If I'd like to be recloned and placed back into battle, HELL ******* YEAH, worse thing about New Eden is the 10 second wait to generate a new clone. |

If I may throw this question out of other games, what exactly do you "fight" for in other games Multiplayer matches? K/DR? Some "rank"? A Badge?
I don't know of any FPS games where their mutliplayer is any deeper than lobby shooters, generally with a tacked on campaign that showcases everything I hate about the direction FPS went.
At least in DUST there exists the chance to have more meaningful multiplayer through PC, your battles can have a much longer impact upon your wallet, and it's possible to fight for some score other than K/DR. Many people keep pointing out that they don't "buy" the notion of making your own path, but I ask to them: "What do you die for in CoD, BF, or Halo Multiplayer?" |

You know what - I'll take the forum ban.
You really are stupid if you missed the entire context of my post.
Battlefield 3? Call of Duty? Lobby shooters. Both of them. Only thing they have that Dust doesn't is Campaign mode. That and some absolutely terrible hit box lag.

Not much to fight for because the Dust-Eve connection is nearly non-existent. I do find it terribly ironic this thread and many comments in it come from people in the big blue blob Farmville alliance calling itself eon. Want some purpose and something to do? Take a break from the ego boosting pub stomping, grow some balls, and stab one of your alliance corps in the back. Until then, you really don't have the right to whine about the lack of a point to Dust, sorry. |

I can't really speak for anyone but myself. DUST is causing burnout because of a lack of variety/gameplay. DUST doesn't have much variety other than two options: play for ISK or play for real estate AND ISK. Granted; COD, Halo, insert any other shooter here, they have campaign and a multiplayer component. But DUST is supposed to have that EvE connection ( orbitals are the least important EvE/DUST connection) and doesn't.
I don't get why( or even if they are) EvE players are telling FPS players to find our own 'purpose.' Its easy for them to say this because EvE has a variety of things players can do. Until there is a variety of things to do in DUST, it will just be 'point and shoot' with no purpose. There needs to be other aspects to DUST than just real estate, ISK, and mindless pew pew. |

Dust 514 is an awesome game where you take over planets and determine the fate of the universe. We operate in linked economies with the galaxy. We can buy and sell goods on a market. The lore is awesome and each race has its own perks. The battlefields are dynamic and balanced, along with many different game types. You can choose different roles like pilot, grunt, medic, scout, or even a gunner. Their are single player missions as well as multiplier missions. You can earn money and build an army. Each race has this AWESOME back story that ties directly to the characters through story driven narratives and missions that feel impactful. You decide the fate of worlds and participant in huge public events to change the universe.
OR
You play 3 game modes. No Single Player. You can customize load outs using the generate wheel used in Eve, Diablo 3, and a few others. Free to play model to get you to spend money supporting its development.
Which one are you playing? LOL...... |
