Make one yourself. This game doesn't provide you the why, you have to invent it. This game will provide the tools to help accomplish your why, some have even gone out of their way to invent new tools to assist in their nefarious ends. Want to be the best hired mercs on the block better work on that reputation. Want to conquer Molden Heth? its only a click jump and 120 clones and you will be on your way, want to destroy corporations from within? |

This is not the game for you then. Your purpose as a merc is to die for the paycheck. |

The basics.
Amarr, space-Catholics. They used to have the Minmatar as slaves, ruled by an Empress who is controlled by an AI, and are allied with the Caldari. Preferring aesthetics over function, they make everything LOOK good before it WORKS well, leading to heavy, but well armored designs. They prefer cleansing Laser fire over other conventional firearms. IO can't say much more about them, they change policies at an alarming rate.
Caldari, space-corporate. They used to have the Gallente as part of their nation. Ruled by a board of CEOs from the biggest companies, currently headed by Tibus Heth, who is not a very nice guy. He dropped a supercapital ship on the only other guy capable of leading the Caldari. Preferring function over all else, their designs tend to be optimized for immense shielding power, but don't function well as physical armor. They fire Missiles and Railguns over long distances to minimize financial losses, blasting a capsule over long distances until it makes contact and explodes.
Gallente, space-French. They left the Caldari for more personal freedoms. Ruled democratically, they formed an alliance with the Minmatar and shared some of their outdated tech with them in hopes of having an ally against the Caldari/Amarr alliance. Taking a similar design philosophy as their mother nation, they put their all into making powerful armor without the Amarr's lack of speed. They use Blaster weapons, a hybrid turret which explodes in the turret and fires the resultant energy in a bolt, as well as Combat Drones, small unmanned fighters designed to harry targets too slow to track them.
Minmatar, space-Tribes. They freed themselves from the Amarr because they didn't much care for being slaves. Living conditions in the Minmatar Republic aren't that much better than the slave quarters though. Using the magic of rust and duct tape, the Minmatar fly old hulks repurposed into sleek machines. Without the technological superiority of the Gallente's Armor, Caldari's Shield, or Amarr's Lasers, they rely more on speed and versatility and more 'conventional' weapons. Minmatar ships are eclectic, the Rifter relying on it's speed, the maelstrom on it's shield, the Tornado on it's sheer firepower. They use Artillery and Autocannons, firing immensely scaled up shells through the vacuum of space to deadly effect.
DUST is the result of the Amarr getting a Sleeper and reverse engineering their version of the conscience moving implants, allowing an infantry compacted version of the EVE pilot Pod system. The other nations quickly got their hands on it, with the Caldari only having the Ishukone corporation, the same one who's CEO got a ship dropped on him earlier. Ramifications of this are yet to be stated.

They need to show players that they are actually making a change. (In FW and PC) Make headlines, recent news of major wars- close battles in PC, highest kill streak of the week(that rhymed ^-^) What percentage of the verse does minmatar own? What battles can well be available? We should be able to reserve a slot. Give every planet a purpose. One gives more isk because the planet is in good economical health, is used as supply grounds(gives better loot of the planets race), how important is the planet? Is it a home world? If its important than give it more clones, make it the headline of the day. "Major battle on blah blah 12 brings down the YOMAMA corporation.
Add constant running maps. When you quit you get your reward. (Requires you stay for some time) This could be good for major battles. Attacking a planets that are constantly active give better reward.
Some players may not want to have to join a corp to take down a target. We're mercs! Make FW have reserve possibilities or just instant looking for FW. |

Gallente ultranationalism drove the Caldari out. The whole you must be a democratic nation overly conflicted with how caldari did most things in a highly bureaucratic manner. One terrorist attack there and one bad election there and whallah

The Gallente are always one step away from a witch hunt anyway, can't really blame the Caldari for wanting to leave. Love how the factions are 'real' and not one of the four is 'good' just less horrid. Minmatar living conditions are horrible, Amarr are racist zealots, Caldari are less than nothing if they lose their job, and Gallente society is ridiculously paranoid. |

Too bad the reason to kill in DUST, and thereby desensitize ourselves even further to violence, is limited to Molden Heath as for playing in FW holds nothing interesting other than the occasional stomping of blueberries.
There is not slight mission arch to a PVE, because there is no PVE. The weapons, well after being here through 3 or 4 resets of the SP I have faithfully tried and proto'ed every weapon we have on the books.
I guess it is back to Balachs and Krins.
The thing is also, PC is still of a technical black hole that produces no other pleasure than the accumulation of property and perceived prestige in the community. And when I begin to really think about the people that I have more often than not had the displeasure of dealing with, I often think of "what kind is soo important and valuble about someone else's subjective interpretation and performances. . |
