You are going to be saving up your SP and ISK for a very... very... long time.
I would suggest putting your SP and ISK into something else for the next year until they are even mentioned on a possible patch, which again, will probably be Summer 2014 at the earliest.
Trust me, CCP takes a snail's pace at making things correctly, even if no one but sloths have the patience for them. |

I will laugh when 90% of the people who skill into them can't fly and go bankrput within a week. Especially the non-pilots who don't have vehicle skills up. I will skill into the Gallente ones because I like Gallente, but I won't use them much. I might do a rental service for them however..... |

Dropships are by no means a strong enough threat to need a new ship type to be their counter. Many Ambush maps are too small to do much complex high speed maneuvering. Bombers are generally more useful for anti-personel / AV, while fighters ensure aerial superiority, and fighters would be largely useless without some bombing craft to counter.
I would say the problems largely revolve around the concept that adding fighters would be like adding Rock to a game that lacked scissors. |

If they make it so that it ignores damage to the aircraft like Battlefield, we're going to have a LOT of snipers tears as they get clipped off of mountains and towers by after-burning Fighters. |

1. collusion damage is redicuiouly high, even when your going at 1 km/h. 2. is flying coffin 3. is slow 4. is hard to control 5. is expensive both sp and isk wise
honestly you think a new aircraft is a good idea when the current and only one is in such bad shape. And besides a fighter will have less hp then a dropship and i bet that a well placed swarm or a decent forge will TKO you al faster then dropships... thats why AV is staying quiet about new vehicles. They want as much (that thing that is filled with candy andyou hit with a stick) as possible. |

Unless your a game developer - I would like to know where so many people get their "expert" status to make these odd negative comments, game calls, please post Certificates with your flame posts (lol)
Any does not matter we gain SP passively, I will just stop playing for a few months at worst until I hear of the Fighter release, then I will dump SP into it. Its a CCP game I expect it will take time.
P.S I am annoyed that we don't have more (same as everyone). I understand we have room to improve but I thought the game release would at least compare and be competitive with other games on the market. Where right now we are far from the game experience of any FPS on the market released at the same time as Dust. |

I agree with another poster that fighters probably wont happen until sometime in the spring of 2014 at the earliest. My guess is they will be introduced when/if DUST ports over to the PS4. I carry a 4mil SP buffer for when they finally do come out. We shall see. |

What we're saying is that it's going to need to be a lot bigger than it is for Dropships. There was a Dev post some time back about how Figthers move fast enough that on that old 5-point Skirmish map from Codex, you'd still be just hitting the redline over and over.
I'm really hoping they aren't going to forcibly restrict them to lower speeds like Planetside 2 and Battlefield do to artificially make the maps seem bigger and force all the combat into super-close WWII style crap. |

A proper Fighter should have no business being low enough to the ground to be taken out by Swarms or Forges (if you wanna hug the ground go for it, but that type of maneuver should be extremely difficult and risky). Save for the most ridiculously lucky of shots Swarms and Forges should never take out Fighters, not due to HP, but due to speed, altitude, and maneuverability. Collision damage, shouldn't be a concern, because you shouldn't be hitting anything. What happens if you bump into a radio tower with an F-16? The "collision damage" will probably be pretty intense.
Fighters should be the fastest thing on the battlefield. They should not be easy to fly without dedicating yourself to the role to avoid Fighter spamming (and i'm talking about practice and experience, not so much SP allocation). Fighters should be WORTHLESS against ground troops, again, save for the most luckiest of shots. Fighters should be exclusively for attacking other Fighters and any sort of Attack Bombers that would be needed to justify the existence of Fighters, and taking out a Dropship should be tricky proposition due to speed differences. And of course there is no reason Fighter pricing should be any different than current vehicles in general.
New aircraft are not a good idea at the moment, which is why they are a distant idea at this point, not so much a plan. Honestly my dream version of the Fighter would honestly have a gun only, no lock on missiles. Make it NOT pinpoint accurate, as shooting at a vehicle requires less precision accuracy, and this would help to keep the Fighter from turning into an infantry killer.

We are just looking at concept drawing and having fun. Relax... There is a good chance the new dropship is the "jet fighter".
But you never know. The other post also had concept drawing of all the suits, I did not see pilot suit, unless it is a scout variant.

Not ramming people, more like flying in with tons of hardeners, then razing the area with my autocannons in hover mode, and if I could, blow them up with my Missile. Air fit would have 2 rails, and (hopefully) some kind of tracking missile. |

The new DS was a DS with the 2 seats, unknown turrets, and a bomb on the bottom. It's cancelled. Not going to happen. |
