So, I had figured out what I needed for CPU usage to equip my Gallente Scout gk.0 Dropsuit with the equipment modules needed to accomplish what I wanted to be able to do next in this game.

In particular, it was going for Lvl 5 in Dropsuit Electronics (5x) where you get "+5% bonus to dropsuit CPU output per level."

I already had boosted to DE level 2 and my stats said I was at 286 so I needed to get it up to 300. Well, I finally got the 217,650 SP needed to get to Level 3, and get the mod I wanted only to find I was missing "1" CPU point. I only got 299, not the 300 that a +5% added to the 286 (that I expected to get) , should have given to my stats. Simple math tells me that if you are at 286 and you add 5% to it, you should be getting 300.30.

I made no other changes, do it was nothing else that stole that "1" point.

So now I am wondering, if that calculation is off, what others are off as well.

 Your base CPU is 250.

I presume you have Dropsuit core upgrades to 4 (+4% CPU).

 250 * 1.04 * 1.15 = 299

Right... didn't you read? I said that I had my CPU up to 286 with everything. I wanted a mod, and needed it to be 300, I calculated out 5% for upgrading electronics from lvl 2 to lvl 3 which is suppose to give you 5% cpu upgrade for each level, so that should have brought me up to 300.

His point is that the calculations are done on the base, so you can't multiply 5% and 286. Basically, your math isn't how that 5% is used.

My point is that they state that Dropsuit Electronics states that it gives a +5% bonus to CPU output per level. So to me, that means I am to add a +5% output bonus, whereas Dropsuit Core Upgrades implies that it is +1% from "Base" by saying maximum. Dropsuit Electronics does not say that! Thereby, by their description, you should add +5% to your CPU usage.

Apparently you and Garth have more knowledge into how they have put this together, while I was only going by their descriptions. So if you read their descriptions, why would I not believe that my calculations were correct? Dropsuit Electronics does not state that it is for CPU Mod's usage, or that it is from a maximum, (which would then change the calculations) just that you get a "+5% bonus to dropsuit CPU output per level."

The description on a lot of skills is misleading or irritating. All core skills that affect the Dropsuit and not a module refere to the base stats.

Next time try using the Dust Fitting Tool to see how your CPU/PG numbers work out with you skill layout. It's been spot on for all of my fits.

Nowhere is said that you get a bonus on your bonus. They said bonus CPU output per Level. Not "Bonus CPU output on your current CPU" These calculations are always done with the base amount of the suit. Meaning you get a 25% bonus on the base CPU of your suit, if you have Electronics on Level 5. It would be weird if it weren't like this. For example when you use 2 skills. Do you get the bonus of one skill after adding the other? Which bonus is added first? It's only logical that you get the bonus on the base amount.

Everything is calculated from the base; you don't get bonuses on bonuses. OP's math is wrong; replies are correct.
