CCP Logibro wrote:Hey guys
So as was posted by CCP Saberwing, a couple of things have been pushed back that were originally going to be in Uprising 1.5. The two big ones are the vehicle changes and the new weapons.
I'm sure you're wondering why. At this stage, we didn't feel happy with how they were and instead of putting them out half way we decided to put some more time into working on them. So this means they are just delayed.
However, there is some good news. What this also means is that we'll be posting what we have so far on the forums starting next week for you guys to give feedback before any of this stuff hits Tranquility. This will allow you to give us your take on what's coming soon to a marketplace near you. This will include both the vehicle changes, changed rifle ranges and the new weapon stats.
We still have some new stuff coming in 1.5 such as Squad Finder, Corp Roles, New WP rewards and the first set of new tutorials.
I would ask that you keep all discussion of this to this thread, and I will be locking and directing any other threads on this matter to this thread.
Thanks for your patience and understanding guys. We're looking forward to your feedback.
(And if you're wondering where the vehicle feedback thread went to, it's been moved to Feedback/Requests to make room on GD front page.)
The funny thing is that they have been working on these new weapons since fanfest. That was back in April. So that was 6 months ago. And the implied understanding then was that they had been in the design and building phase of these items for a month or so before that. So it has taken so far, with no perceivable tangible results for us, the player base, as to the reality of said additions for almost 7-8 months.
Hell Corp roles were something promised 4-5 months ago. I guess you guys Are working on a 'soon' principal of promise date (ETA) + 4-6 months. DO you even realize how abortive those kind of developmental choices are. Granted I know we are not talking about the development of a new biological species, but it is pretty damn close when you think about the virtual nature and context of this game and what it is being held to light against.
I often wonder what is really going on in the Shanghai office. Often times it seems like nothing that is ever revealed to us by the devs is ever going to happen.
PS4 in less than 2 months is all I have to say. Then, who is to say how many people will be left in the player base. |

I am so EXCITED!!!!
No really, what is coming in this patch? If that is it, that is BS! Crap, we have been strung along with the same ole equipment for over 6 months. Hell even COD gets better and more frequent weapon updates than that.
So what is really going one here? Trolling are we? |

Akurabis wrote:With 13 pages, it's doubtful whether this will get looked at, but I must say something to this effect:
Vehicle players simply cannot abide the damage potential of wykromi swarms as they are currently. Now that they apparently fly forever and often invisibly, they just make for a bad time.
Some players just have a fully buffed-up wykromi - this on the field basically negates any vehicles. It turns any match to ****, just because some greedy ********** thought it would be fun to try and break the game.
Don't get me wrong; I'm all for stacking damage mods. But there has to be some change to how it works for swarms - with 6 shots per 'shot', you get 6 boosts. This extra damage, if it were spread evenly across the multiple rockets, would be balanced, surely.
Beefing swarms specifically is an exploit, in my opinion.
If it were on warhead, it would have the strength of all 4-6 wrapped up into one.
The bonus would be the same regardless. Every one has something of concur to them, but he reality is that without the balance of the basic weapons (all of them mind you) and the dropsuits to boot plus their basic vehicle racial variations, there is no way to begin to approach the balancing of damage, firing style, ranges, hell any of it. I am not saying the world, not per say all of the officer variants or even begin to dip into factional variants, but the basic models and their internalized variations.
This would give them (i.e., devs) a base of comparative understanding since the linkage to EVE also includes available factional variation in style of play that affects the equipment being fielded. Without contrastive counterparts in comparative understanding (i.e., the definition and understanding of one thing being see and recognized due to the existence and recognition of its opposite). This half of a soup sandwich is no picnic to eat now. Not when the same ole crap is spilling down the front of my shirt. As is the case of playing now with the same ole weapons but the player base and CCP both expecting a different result (besides the FOTM tragedies) from the combination of the same list of ingredients. There are only so many combinations before the menu gets repetitive and stale.

But don't worry GLaDOS..er..CCP has said that we can expect Cake in 1.7......
So I will just keep waiting for Cake......Years if I have too.....Pour as much money as I can into this game because I will get Cake next patch......Doesnt everyone want Cake?....Just wait till next patch.....We will all be happy and have SOOOO much Cake.
Sorry got distracted.
My feedback is: - Don't lead us with expectations and miss deadlines. + Along with new players will have a better experience than everyone who started before them. Less terribad Blueberries. - Single Player disappeared. A great lead in for new players to get their hands on stuff and understand. More terribad Blueberries. - Nothing stands out about this game, no mechanics, no experience, nothing. Its a shell like something you present people for a kick-starter. - I would say its free, but its not. - Its not hardcore, Dead Souls is hardcore. - Its interface is nothing like Eve, its like a cheap knockoff. + Some of the players are fun to talk too. - Some of the players are really a special type. ~ Its an MMO and with all MMO's the more time and money you sink the "better" you are. (Unless you are bad game...bad gamer is always bad) - Your customer service is rather spotty. I sometimes get offered to submit feedback when they do something good, but if they screw me they don't send me a form. In the industry we call that "painting" the best picture for the Executives.
Feedback so far, will keep posting as it develops. Thank you for you patience and please understand that my opinion is an on-going project that grows and develops.......
In a media sense this is also called framing and agendizing (i.e., agenda setting). Usually the audience would be people like us, but that may not always be the case. As you have so aptly pointed out, they too are going through a process of constructing and maintaining a specifically chosen identity for their bosses at the same time they (i.e., the devs) are attempting to construct and perform one (i.e., an identity) to the player base; us.
Looks like and sounds like a circle jerk that no one wants to admit to. |

Commander Tzu wrote:I couldn't care less about new vehicles/weapons, I would rather just get this crap balanced out. Honestly, just give vehicles the 25% pg upgrade you stole from them and see how that works out; all my SP is in tanks and I can tell you that simple fix would really alleviate the balance problem, with maxed vehicle fitting skills you can't even have a proto turret with heavy extender/plates and heavy booster/repper. Another option would simply be leave tanks the way they are and reduce the cost substantially, I really don't care if I lose a tank to some invisible forge gunner or swarm and have absolutely no way to defend against it if my tank didn't cost so much. The whole idea behind this game and Eve is that pvp has actual consequences, and when an HAV can cost the equivalent of 4-5 dropsuits within a system like that it implies that the HAV is more of an investment. But right now tanks are much weaker (for many reasons, I just don't feel like writing an essay) in the field than previous versions of the game so it seems like they shouldn't cost as much. Now before I end let me be clear, I am all for a detailed re-balance of vehicles to fit them into the battlefields of New Eden, my main frustration right now is that there is nothing being done when there are so many simple solutions to at least alleviate the problem.
Hey genius, can't balance a game without the total number of basic racial variants that the game SHOULD have HAD at release. The thing is EVE has four races that are equally participating in a struggle for survival against each other and numerous smaller entities (i.e., player corps, pirate gangs, etc.) and this extension of EVE is, for one reason or another in a RELEASED version, i.e., to be publicly consumed and comparatively critiqued and evaluated - judged and compared to such other gaming entities as BF, COD, MOH, PS2) is like an incomplete and aborted fetus. Of which you can't balance something that is incomplete, because as we have all be observing for the last 6 months of this (at least for me) 15 month ride of development, and incomplete product sold to the public for consumption is not going to survive. It feels like it has been through out there to generate some additional cash flow coming into the coffers of CCP, that there is really not the EVE support for this interaction, at least no to the level that I believe was portrayed to us under manipulated conditions of accrual and presentation of that supposed support.
But then again on that side the only time I have seen EVE interact on our part has been ONLY in PC, and that has been occasional, not substantive. In other words marginal at best and hasn't really improved naval and infantry relations. |

They're adding, changing and removing both skills and modules. They may be changing the hulls. Asking for a respec because the flavor of the month got nerfed, and asking for a respec because an entire style of play is being changed, are 2 different things. spkr said it himself. Some of us dont even want to be speced into tanks anymore because of how raped they have been for the past 5 months
The funny thing Exmaple, is that what makes this game different from all the other games is the fact that there are consequences to our decisions. Much those same decisions made in the direction of our distribution of skill points to skills. The unfortunate reality of playing a CCP developed and managed game is that they have established a track record of unpredictability. Hence the reason why Jita burned and why also there is a propensity for large monetary heists to occur between players.
As much as it sucks right now with whole continuation of the FOTM approach to balancing is that patience is a necessary trait for a person to hold and maintain if they wish to be witness to either the evolutionary continuation or demise of this game and social environment.
Go cheap and work away at something else. Those skills you have will come to use again. The question is when? |

And it makes me add a possibility for the delay. Ponder the following fellow Tankers: The changes are so dramatic that it will Require a Skill SP Refund. That would probably make CCP/Shanghai gag. Then, when the modified Skills and Vehicle capabilities are looked at many, like myself, will no longer skill into Tanks, or any vehicles whatsoever. Personally, freeing up the 8M+ SP from Vehicles and Turrets will let me spend my 140+M ISK on Proto gear more often than not. It would significantly improve my lethality as well my level of fun. Something that has been lacking in Uprising since 1.0 and is the very reason that Boosters are a thing of the past for me. Hopefully they will buy back my useless Vehicles, Modules and Turrets as well. Hell, it might even be worth spending some SP to Find My Freaking Squad as they have stolen that ability just to force more SP sinks down our throats. CCP/Shanghai, rewriting lore to make more Sinks!
I think the SP return or respec probably wouldn't be perceived as being necessary if there was a player interactive market; i.e., if I don't need it I can sell it.
The fact that this reality has yet to come to reality, it has hampered, at least in my eyes, larger social interaction and the MMO aspects of the game. Hell if we could just have not only player to player transfer of funds, but also of equipment, that could at least begin to broaden the current interactional possibilities which could help maintain and expand the player base. This and also maybe mitigate the calls respec when the nerf hammer gets out of hand. |

DRaven DeMort wrote:Man you guys at ccp. . . here i was thinking that i just had to wait a few more days, so that i could contribute something to my corp and you guys once again, ugh i am no longer going to buy any active or passive boosters, and or aurum till you guys get the core mechanics (balance) right in this game, and i think if we all did this it would make you guys think twice before making promises you cant keep. SOON TM will not work any longer and i feel that this is coming soonTM. I cant believe i am saying this, but if you guys keep adding, modifying, or down right not adding things you promised then you should give everyone a respec every-time you "update" this game, because even though i have always speced into dropships, i am getting tired of (getting the rug pulled out from under me). Eg "look at the fighter" or "we will fix vehicles in 1.5" or making things people speced into worthless. And for goodness sake fix the issues you have now before adding anymore; that way you don't have to fix them in the future.
If it were only as easy as you describe it . The unfortunate reality is that for balancing to even begin, there has to be the basics: ALL basic (logi, assault, scout, sentinel, commando, pilot, etc) Racial dropsuits, the basic layout of racially variant weapons (light - main, light-distance, sidearm, CQC, heavy, knives, grenades) plus possibly equipment., and the basic (LAV, HAV, Derpship) vehicles
Without this basic foundation to work from, the work dedicated to balancing or core mechanics and controls will not be able to be hones and fine tuned because with the partial introduction of racial variants produces interactional issues both in how it interacts with the players pinging between each other online and the basic issues of how the code for the new weapons is reacted to by the game architecture that attempts optimize the hardware's performance.
I too am frustrated by game of pick-a-boo with new weapons, equipment, skills, and vehicles. It feels like a really bad hand job. And those suck (actually maybe the issue is that they don't )!
My patience runs thin. I often wonder why I ma on here, if it wasn't for the group of players in my corp.

Dengar Skirata wrote:MEHRUNES REBELLION wrote:Hello to all my name is Mehrunes Rebellion and have an idea that you all might like and it's just two words. Deployable. Cover. It can be fitted into any of your equipment slots(provided you have a suit that has a equipment slot) and deployed like any other deployable items (i.e. nanohives, uplinks, proximity bombs, etc, etc,) except instead of a swarm of nanites giving you ammo it will be a wall of hardened nanites protecting you from damage once deployed u cannot move it and if you get killed the shield will still remain active till its destroyed or u lay down another one(enemy units will be able to use it) deployable cover will be very useful for the assaults and logi who are the running across no mans land and in those tight corridors where no cover is to be found, deployable cover is not indestructible however nor is it perfect. Deployable cover(or Nanite Shielding) will be destroyed if it takes to much damage this varies depending on the tier Standards can take up to 250 points of damage, Advanced Tier can take up to 500 points in damage, and Prototype protects up to 1000 points of damage and you can skill into it to give it an extra 500 points of damage. It can also come with a shield that offers a wider range of protection but takes less damage to destroy. Deployment time is another issue once deployed it will take 1.5 seconds for shielding to form once formed you will be good to go. I like it, though I think they should be able to withstand more damage, especially at the standard tier. A blueberry with a standard assault rifle can deal over a thousand damage per clip, so this deployable cover should be able to take a beating. I think AT LEAST 500 hp at the standard level. But other than that, I think it's a great idea that would add another little bit of tactics into the game. I just wouldn't expect it anytime soon.
But this has already been spoken about for months - deployable shield generators. And we have yet to even see anything more than discussion on that one, and the last discussion about that, till now, has been months past.
But that suggestion deserves some serious consideration about implementation. But it is likely that we may wait easil;y 6-10 months before we even see a working model.
Bummer. |

I do feel for the vehicle guys, but it seems there's too many other issues right now.
Side note: How about a vehicles only gameplay mode? Like 20 tanks, LAV's and dropships slugging it out? That would be kind of cool.
Modularity of the weapons would be nice, yet it is another topic that CCP has been engaging the community about for over a year, but we have yet to see anything - no models or even discussion of it being worked on internally.
You may be here a bit before you see that. How long was it till the EVE pilots got their Tech 3 ships, that are modular by their very design? |

(And if you're wondering where the vehicle feedback thread went to, it's been moved to Feedback/Requests to make room on GD front page.)
I find it interesting that the excuse for the lack of content is the fact that they "weren't happy with it" when in fact the entire game has been wholly unfinished and broken, which one would think that would fall into the realm of "unhappy iterations" of the equipment that has been put out "half-way."
I personally can't seem to say this enough, but with out the basic and full racial complement of vehicles, weapons, and dropsuits, CCP is going to be continuously putting out shite "half-way" bases upon their own descriptive interaction with this community and the rest of the gaming public. The real issue is that like any form or reasoning that is given as to why something wasn't completed and delivered to the player base here, is like any other excuse that anyone has heard for another person/group's failure to follow through with their word.
Once again, the mental back pedaling has occurred and I sit back and laugh at the moonwalk CCP is poorly attempting to do because all that they promised, in the timeframes that they spoke about and alluded to, have come to pass with goose eggs filled with a raucous, malformed chick. DOA is what a number of the changes and patches have been. More often than not we have been handed something more broken than what we originally had.
This makes me sad. PS4 in T minus 26 days. Destiny BETA in anywhere between 3-4 months (on both PS3 and PS4). After that who knows where this tiny player base may flitter of too.
Not to mention what an abject display of politically skewed complexes when a person promotes the discussion of particular issues in this game but deems that only the discussion can happen on their terms, such as LogiBro has shown us here: "I would ask that you keep all discussion of this to this thread, and I will be locking and directing any other threads on this matter to this thread.
Thanks for your patience and understanding guys. We're looking forward to your feedback."
Patience and understanding. That is a laugh when coming from the lips of a dictator. Laughable. |
