Anyone know? When it says 40 HP damage, there is no way they are just doing 40 HP damage. |

In my experience the shotgun applies damage directly to the head, usually from the back.
Actually I am very curious as to how many pellets they do fire. |

Spread is the operation. Proficiency is ROF increase instead of damage like all other weapons. So theoretically you can pump a few more rounds into a guy before they mow you down. |

Just thinking, but would it be more useful that hipfire gets wider, and ads gets tighter, the shotgun still doesn't feel like the king of -10m |

Not sure about any one else who runs SG but ADS is almost pointless you're too close to enemies to ADS. They move out of sight too quickly. |

I've been watching a few videos of shotgunners and seeing what looks like 100% accurate hits on center mass which presumably are having all pellets hit at once. They are with scouts presumably with no more than a single damage mod that are hitting single shots with STD/ADV regular shotguns (8 shotters) for 450+ raw damage. Which at a 86 RPM rate should give them a higher DPS than STD/ADV ARs I believe. |

Oh, I do ?? Its just that in cqc, you don't have much time to line up a shot, and then they seem to physically dodge the round, a wider hip fire spread would allow for a greater chance to hit but for less damage, but an ads shot practically fires a slug, which would be a lot more powerful!! |

while this is probably correct in a sense, I can't help but point out that it doesn't fire pellets. sticking to the story behind the shotgun it's an unstable burst of plasma. kinda like the ARs, which fire magnetically contained balls of plasma, except it doesn't contain it and probably uses more per shot. pellets implies a projectile weapons, where shotguns are hybrid. |

No damage mod needed. a CRG will bring a STD, or a lightly tanked ADV down in one hit if all connect. A scout suit can't really fit a damage mod. It can but I don't really recommend it. Most high slots on scouts are dedicated to shields to help keep them alive. |

Well...if you watch the discharge from the shotgun, you can clearly see several distinct "things" coming out in a semi tight cluster. Simply for the lack of a better descriptive term for these "things" i just called them "pellets".
So, 40 dmg per "pellet", that better? |

It shots several pellets at once. How many it shots is a miracle and nobody knows. But meh the shotgun is outdated cause AR is the the only thing you need to use these days. |

Wooohooo I'm really interested in an answer to this. Because I tried the BREACH variant (description said it does more damage for slower reload). WHEN I BOUGHT IT, it first showed me that it only has 2 shots and then you have to reload. That's not really "fires slower" :D
So If I knew how the pellets fly and how many, maybe I could consider this a good weapon again. ATM I feel like it's a joke vs the normal shotgun if youre not 0,5m behind someone. |

Damage rating per pellet. 10-12 pellets is the generally accepted estimate. Spread tightens at each level of operation.
Theoretically higher CQC DPS than an AR. Provided every single pellet strikes your target. This rarely occurs, even at point-blank range.
The AR is the best close quarters weapon at the moment. It also happens to be the best short-medium range weapon. As well as the best medium-long range weapon.
But everyone who uses an AR will tell you its balanced. And shotgunners like us are supposed to deal with it. Welcome to AR-514.
(Pardon my present pissiness, OP. Lost dozens of fights today I should've won today.)

I was testing shotgun last night.
Some observations just shooting at a blue supply depot:
-I would use the 'shield hit' animation to indicate the shotgun was doing damage. -When just a sliver of the circle was touching the supply depot at less than 11m range the shotgun would 'hit'. -This makes me think that your hit comes from the % of target within the circle, or % of circle covered. |
