Simple suggestion if not something to happen down the line when the rest of the racial suits/weapons come out.
Basically the idea is to have small bonuses per level if you use your races gear, I mean it makes sense that say an Caldari solder would be better with the sniper rifle or swarm launcher then a Gallente one right, or on the switch a Gallente would be better with the AR or plasma cannon simply because it's their gear, these bonuses could be anything from damage to reload speed; so gonna list some examples below. (note they are examples)
(Remember Minmatar=M, Ammar=A, Gallente=G, Calldari=C)
The mass driver:
M: +5% damage per level , +2% splash radius per level,+ 3 ammo capacity per level
G: +3% damage per level
C: -3% splash damage (Not stacked by level)
A: -5% splash damage (Not stacked by level)
The scrambler rifle:
A: +5% effective range per level, +2% damage per level, +2% ammo capacity per level
M: -5% damage (Not stacked by level)
G: -3% damage (Not stacked by level)
C: +1% damage per level.
and so on and so forth tired right now so will add on to this later, but until then agree or disagree below.

This is a bad idea for several reasons. The first is that people often choose their race because of how the suit looks when they first fire up the game, and won't appreciate that it will have significant and permanent gameplay consequences. Even if you explain the consequences, they haven't played the game yet, so can't make an informed decision. "Plasma Cannon" may sound cool in reading the description, but when the get in game, they realize it's not fun and that they choose the wrong race.
The second is that it doesn't allow for flexibility.
The third is that it's not done in EVE, and I think most EVE pilots are pretty happy about this.
I think the better option would be to have the starter fits better reflect the racial archetypes of the player's chosen race. Again, this would have to wait until CCP gets the rest of the racial content out there and balanced. |

This is exactly what's done in eve through bonuses to your races weapon or equipment (such as drones) and is varied from ship to ship but it's almost always for their race for example the rifter I believe has a rof increase to projectile weapons and something else I can't remember.
This is what I'm trying to get in dust but just a bit more simplified. |

I suspect this isn't yet the case because there is so much missing content. Hopefully as CCP fills this in, they can move further in this direction. |

I'll support this idea once all the racial equipment is available. We already see a bit of this with Amarr getting a heat reduction.

I would suggest changing this in your OP, as to make it more clear.
If you are speaking of more racial bonuses, then I'm for it, but recall that in EVE the ship bonuses (except on faction navy and pirate) are more just % increases to certain things, much like is on the current assault / logi suits. (I do think more need to be added to basic)
So for example Amarr Dropsuits get a bonus to laser based weapons, which is an amarr racial bonus to their racial weapons. It's not one so extreme that you'd laugh at a Caldari SR user, or a Amarr Mass Driver, but it's enough so that if you want to maximize the SR or LR then you go Amarr.
The problem with buffing weapons too much based on suit is that you always have to keep in mind max possible stats when balancing, because players -will- go for them. So in the cases for the MD you offered, the MD would have to be heavily nuked in regular use to ensure that the racial suit bonus on a minmatar suit does not make it the most powerful weapon.
Also, DUST plans on adding more and more weapons to the game, so having a racial suit give specific bonuses to each individual weapon (over weapon type) would either give them a page of bonuses or too heavily narrow down the suits.
(Although I wouldn't be against if there was, later in the game, t2 Dropsuits that focused exclusively upon a single weapon) |

I was thinking about what if each proto suit had a racial slot or being able to designate a slot as racial. What that would do is lower the fitting cost or make a module more effective. For example a minmatar logi would be able to designate a codebreaker as a racial module and be able to choose if they would want (x) fiitiing cost reduction or (x) increase to efficiency. Only one slot would be able to be designated. The designated slot would need a few diferent options for each suit.
If there was a racial slot you would be able to put modules in such as an increase to reload speed for x gun. Certain bonuses and modules would locked from other suit races. That way the races would differ a bit more but the player would still be able to customize to their playstyle. Basically what Sinboto said. I personally would like a racial slot for each suit. |

It's all good. You must have saw a drone boat's bonus and that was race specific. You have about the right idea. However, it better not be damage, more like more ammo, faster reload, things like that. |

@ Sinboto Simmons:
You idea is in fact a GOOD one.
But the bonuses you described are a little OP IMO.
1st)This idea should be implemented as soon as ALL weapon variants are out. 2nd) Bonuses should be SMALL, in order to not totally out-gun ''hybrid'' suit-weapon combination but still have a notisable advantage:Example:
-MD=If used by Minmatar they get +10% Resupply rate on MD PER LEVEL.So at proto level, you will resupply your MD 50% faster.See,not an OP advantage,BUT still an advantage. (while at Supply depo or Nanohive)
-Laser Rifle:IF used by Amarr, they get 10% increase in clip size per level. So at proto level a ''CLip'' of Laser Rifle will pack 150 rounds instead of 100. Even at proto level with Viziam a Laser rifle will overheat pass 85 rounds so its not like an actual advantage 1v1. But it is and advantage while at RANGE and vs 2+ enemies, because you can kill one, wait a couple of seconds , then shoot again without having to reload.
This weapon upgrades are a small incentive for players to use their race weaponry while not giving a direct advantage to the players using them.
(this 2 might be a bad example, but the idea is there XD) |

The downside here is that bonuses to the Gallente will make the AR disgustingly OP, even more so than it already is.
Following the OP's logic a Gallente suit fitted with an AR would get the following bonus: +5% damage per level, +2% rate of fire per level, +2% ammo capacity per level.
This would make the AR truely insane. Can you imagine a fully maxed duvolle with these additional bonuses? On the bright side the Gallente would findally be making up for the armor movement penalty but at the cost of being insanely powerful, making the whole gallente suit OP not just their weapon.

I think the better option would be to have the starter fits better reflect the racial archetypes of the player's chosen race. Again, this would have to wait until CCP gets the rest of the racial content out there and balanced. actually, it is done in EVE, caldari ships get bonuses to their racial equipment and weapons, same with all the races. though i think we already have that ingame with built-in suit bonuses, do we not (havent checked honestly)
EDIT: nvm, i think OP means for more specific per-equipment bonuses, which are bad, fi your going to have a damage bonus, it would have to be like "minmatar->generic projectile weapon damage bonus", that is an even bonus across any projectile based weapon.
but that isnt really viable for balance until we can get a full range of weapons and suits for every race. |
