So a friend and I were discussing dropships and came up with an interesting idea. In world war two the Luftwaffe used screaming air breaks on their dive bombers to put the fear of air power into their enemies.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yOBCGwMpeo (skip to 1:05 best example I can find, good movie tho)
I think it would be really cool if the vehicle team (don't know their name) made a custom slot for the dropship. Pilots could then buy 'screaming dive engines' for X amount of ISK. The effects? When going fast enough to have the fast speed effect (blue lightning stuff or wind i guess) the engines make a horrifying screaming noise. Yes that is all it does.
For me the psychological effect would help greatly in routing enemies and forcing them into cover, not to mention being a feared presence on the battlefield would be great for keeping enemies behind cover, instead of advancing on points. I suppose the downside to this is having the enemy know where you are or that you are coming, but I'm all about psych ops
anyway I thought this would be a fun topic to put up for discussion, thoughts? Ideas? Comments? |

You have no idea how bad a sound will make me mess my pantaloons.
I say no because it sounds like a SP sink. Why would you alert your enemy and yet have no weapon to kill them with? |

Because a real man lets his enemy know that he is about to drop in and unleash hell upon them.

As far as SP and ISK invested it would low, this isn't a modual that affects much. I fly assault dropships so I do have a weapon Would also be cool to change the white color on my dropship to a nice dark red with this same custom slot for a little isk. Though that is for another thread entirely. |

This screaming air brake idea would be cool against newbies and for a YouTube clip or two, but the whole,"what's that sound? Oh, look up! It tells me exactly which way to point this forge gun!".

That could actually be, a pretty good idea. I don't know if it fits with the lore, (We're military grade clones... At least our bodies, but what i mean is, isn't both our bodies and minds, heavily prepared for anything to come?)...
But our ''minds'' are actually players... And i imagine that a lot would be frightened for hearing such screaming machine without noticing it before it ''Blows'' ...
So i believe it could actually work, so yeah. +1 to you, buddy. |

That wouldn't scare me. That would make me happy to know where your dropship is and take it into account while fighting.

I could see it working both ways, yeah they are lloking for the dropship, and not the troops that deployed during the dive. All eyes on me, just ignore these 4 guys on your point :D |
