Well whoever writes their skill descriptions is terrible. JS.
I'd offer to do it for them, free. The only thing I can imagine is that people in Shanghi write the skill code, and then they can't properly translate it back to English for the Iceland team to understand or something. |

So your friends that are new to Dust tried the game and quit it because of aim assist
That's strange since i can link 10+ posts from your whiny ass that say aim-assist helps noobs and they become gods who can take down proto's without even trying.
Are you telling me they hated being good, or they only enjoy games where they get stomped by anyone who has been playing for a year + |

Well in Halo you don't have to screw around with loadouts, or selecting a new fitting after each death.

I know CCP is afraid to "Fragment the playerbase" anymore, but they've got it backwards. They need new game modes or they will continue to lose new players, and hemorrhage old ones.
If you owned a theme park and they were losing customers every year would you
A: Shrink the park and discontinue operation of several rides B: Keep it the same and hope for something to change C: Add new attractions
If you answered A, cut back on existing features, then what do you do the next year when customer turnout is even LOWER?

Now loop that into an infinite regression till you have no rides, and no visitors and you have demonstrated CCP's approach to the problem. A lack of ambition. |

I stayed with Dust.
But when they realized they had to start playing all over to actually test/play as something else they dropped it.(they all had between 5-9 million)
Thats 6 players lost because the lack of respecs....

I think this problem is alleviated if CCP did only 2 simple things!
1. Add BPO for weapon that exists, using a militia version. (Must make a few new militias) 2. Convey to new players that skill points cannot be reallocated once spent, and to spend them wisely after testing which weapons they prefer to use. Be 100% certain that this information is received.

Of course, yeah. No other game has as much fitting selection choices, And 1x use equipment. That's a lot to hit someone with up front and they do a poor job at it. |

Good, CCP shouldnt just give out respecs cause someone wants something new, if that was the case then everyone would respec every time something new becomes OP. They should have picked something and stuck with it or saved to get the new item. Respecs are only warranted when the skill tree changes drastically

My friend's hate how poor the ds3 joystick sensitivity is.
They recently tried 1.4's aiming, and the aim assist helps, but they still don't like how low the sensitivity is.
They also aren't big fans of the graphics.
They also "don't see the point". They played because they heard fights matter in EVE, but they don't understand how anything in the world is being changed or effected, and the monitor in merc quarters isn't as useful in Dust as it is in EVE.
They also don't like how they can't change their sight/scope. ( I don't blame them here.) They don't believe a weapon shouldn't be configurable. They want to put the ACOG sights on sniper rifles and regular assault rifles, and they can't, and they find that very frustrating.
They also wanted to be able to respec the SP. |

Then you don't have a choice. You need to kick it into overdrive and simultaneously work on an appeasing amount of new content And repairing old structural problems. You'd need a balance and at least 110% effort.

I'd say if they had BPO's available for every militia weapon and were NOT ALLOWED to use anything else till they completed a short tutorial that explains how items are lost and skills are permanent.
This way nobody spends all 500,000 starting SP on repair tools, decides they hate it, realizes they can't undo, uninstall game, never come back. |

Oh I can answer this one. -Stale maps -Balance handed poorly. -Lack of game modes -Lack of thrilling moments. -Lack of overall fun. -Matchmaking. -Pointless weapon variants -Aim assist (Now) -Squad disbanding (Now) Also other reasons for me: -Starcraft/Dota 2 ladder and competitive scene is amping up pretty nice. -Civ 5 is quite fun -Waiting for heartstone As for my friends: -Dota 2 -Low SP starting pool. -****** detection. -Pointless gun variants. -Matchamaking and toxic comunity while not having a GOOD corp. -CCP listenning to fanboys.
Yep I think that covers it pretty much. |

Interesting thread.
That happened to me with the most of my friends.
Reason 1 - Aiming feels sloppy and clumsy (this happened during uprising 1.0 and 1.1).
Reason 2 - Unfair and unbalanced game. They didn't like the "RPG" progression style.
Reason 3 - Poor graphics. |

Well, let me start by first and quit explaining who my friends are: I have around 8 friends and colleges who own a PS3 and play on a daily basis. Some of them play a lot of BF3 and a few third person shooters like uncharted. No one is a CoD fan; no one is using a KB/M. Our age is from 29 till 40. We meet ones in a month in my flat and play. We use to play BF3 and Borderlands/2 and switched to Dust514. No one is playing Dust anymore. Maybe we will switch to Diablo 3 this weekend but IGÇÖm highly motivated to show them the new 1.4 Dust. Two people are giving Dust a chance right now (this does not mean that they love it all of a sudden). The rest have quit it for the reasons I like to list now: (please donGÇÖt forget it is what THEY said)
Every single one of them has tried Dust and I will sort their comments:
Every one said:
- Hitting things was impossible.
- --- Way to difficult and their asses are getting kicked merciless.
- --- No AA, lags, KB/M against them as DS3 users.
- They couldnGÇÖt win a damn match. (well is what they told me)
- ---Matchmaking placed them against too strong opponents.
- --- Hitting was an Issue
- The graphic sucks for a FPS.
- --- Textures are bad.
- --- The looks of the map is boring (boooooooooooooooring like one said)
- --- The maps are missing details (like the Metro Station in BF3 one said)
- --- The maps looks like halfheartedly build (referring to the placing of the assets)
- Assets
- --- Absolutely no free vehicles, for a game with vehicles inside no one get a chance to drive on.
- --- Militia vehicles are sh*t and to expansive for very new players.
- --- The turrets are destroyed very damn time and they couldnGÇÖt use it.
- WAY to complicated (relating to the skill description, they donGÇÖt know what to skill)
- --- No TUT or explanation at all.
- --- No guides and no starting classes to show good examples. (lets be honest here, the start fitting sucks hard)
- To expansive they could do sh*t.
- --- Me and they didnGÇÖt realize that there are a lot of militia weapons to try before specializing something
- --- Me and they didnGÇÖt realize that there are a lot of militia modules to try before specializing something
- No single player complain
- --- Missing PVE
- --- Missing Co-Op
- --- Missing a away to earn money outside of multiplayer (their asses are being kicked a little too hard)
- --- Missing a way to earn SP outside of multiplayer (their asses are being kicked a little too hard)
Some said:
- There is no motivation in playing: (a couple liked the long term motivation)
- --- They see that it is a ultra-long way to drive something
- --- They see that it is a ultra-long way to use something
- --- They see that it is a ultra-long way to fly something
- --- Playing only multiplayer sucks, no motivation in this.
- --- No motivation in general (missing balance, GÇ£why do I as a noob have to fight this hard core f*cker?GÇ¥)
- No changing environment
- --- Destroying buildings and wall like in BF3
- --- No map progression
- --- No night/day , no weather.
Only a few said:
- The orbital is unfair.
- --- The whole squad was working towards the Orbital but only the squad leader gets the kills on his account (DonGÇÖt forget that some of my friends are very organized BF3 players and that a good K/D Ratio is crucial for them)
- Squad management sucks donkey balls (actually wording)
- --- No commander mod
- --- No reward point reward for squad leading (SL)
- --- The SL gets the kills from orbital, (they are saying that a SL should get something else and not the actual kills from the orbital)
- --- No Squad reward (the little WP donGÇÖt count to much for them)
- --- The wheel is kinder crappy

Its people like you that drive away new players by pub stomping them, so its you who is the problem with this game. getting proto does not give you the right to stomp others, use proto where it matters i.e. PC and FW. |

To actually respond to this thread,
Most of my friends liked the game, but felt they had better things to do then grind out SP each cap.
They collected passive SP and played every other day. Then occasionally, then rarely.
"Some day i might come back and see how the games been developed, but as of now, not even 30 million SP would keep me playing the game in its current state. I enjoy killing others, sure. But why bother doing it in game that doesn't seem to know what it is yet, or what its going to become, and has a community that not only plays the game consistently, but seems to hate doing it at every turn. That cocktail is only going to end up in ruining the game."
I tend to agree with him on most days. |

Aim assist is for casuals and tools. Even "they" know it. Doesn't matter, though, as CCP is simply testing to see what draws more microtransaction $$, catering to elites or teenie boppers. Everything else is moot. |

*shrug* Most of my friends already have regular, full-time 40-hour week jobs GÇö or more GÇö and simply got tired of the "grind" that Dust 514 represented. To them, getting involved in Dust 514 was almost a second job and, frankly, the one (paying) job is enough. |

Intially all the modules and skills are overwhelming. Without a real tutorial, mistakes will be made. Which leads into to the next problem, no respecs. No respecs isn't a new thing, its an old game design mechanic. I can't explain why its good that way, since it isn't. The huge grind isn't appealing either. I played MAG with some of them, and even with 3 game modes it was more ingaging. Domination is dumbed down skirmish, so its only 'Zones' and 'Team Death Match'. Overall, its a hard sell. |

EoN isnt a corp, its an alliance. Also thats not what i ment, it matters to all corps its just not accessible to all with the way CCP poorly set it up |

Are you telling me they hated being good, or they only enjoy games where they get stomped by anyone who has been playing for a year +
You are equating being good with using the AA. The fact is anyone who enjoys playing FPS for the competition would dislike the AA no matter the lvl of SP they are at....because it cheapens the competitive nature. |

You have the option to turn it off. But if that was the case, NO ONE WOULD PLAY ANY CONSOLE FPS. lol I've played both on my rig and console. And enjoy playing on console just cause it's more comfortable for me.
AA off or on should not be messing up any fps vet. You might be dying more, but you should be killing more too. |
