We have been abandoned. CCP has made a section dedicated to fiction where we may paint our stories on the vast canvas that is New Eden and they have shown no interest. Dev tags are in all sections except this one; not counting the sticky. CCP Mintchip, our community representative writes her "this week in Dust thread" in the General Forums and completely passes up our section. We may be small in number but we are still here.
Temba, where have you gone? I want to know more of The Thinking Man's Strategy.
Whatever happened to True Adamance. I know he's still around. He posts constantly in the Intergalactic Summit. Surely he must have a tale of the Ammar he can regale us with.
Zyanic. Your short stories are descriptive and entertaining. Continue to write, please. I may not comment, but trust me when I say I read.
My fellow authors do not be disheartened by our low numbers. Do not let our art die. New Eden is vast, filled with interesting people, whose stories we could create and tell. We have the ability. That is why we are here. Tell your stories. Tell New Eden's stories.
I hope this reaches you, my fellow authors. Our stories must be told. |

Stories we have. Time however is a commodity. I already have most of Warrior Nine planned out, yet I haven't had much time on hand to continue writing. As for Mintchip, I suppose I could understand why she wouldn't commend of EVERYONE'S post, but at least a pat on the back directed towards the community would be nice. It would be amazing if we could get a few stories in the community spotlight.
A guess a better way to increase publicity would be to enhance the quality of content. I have no doubt that we have an echlon of talented writers on this forum. Where we to jack our efforts up to eleven and post dynamic, in depth fan fiction, maybe we stand a chance of forming a writing community powerful enough to be able to form a sizeable amount of fanon. While time may be short for some of us, communication between other authors and putting attention to detail into every thing we do would certainly make sure we get the most out of what little time we have. |

Yeah, time is the thing. I personally sometimes end up writing while playing the game. In the middle of a pubmatch after a death I might just end up writing anywhere from a word to a paragraph. It's sometimes slow, but I get some good content out of it.
As for jacking up to eleven. I think my current project, Euryale, probably falls somewhere in a six, maybe edging into seven. I'm going to go for the long haul on it, so hopefully the quality will maintain if not improve.
I am willing to put in what effort I can afford at the moment to see this subforum grow into a cornucopia of ideas and fiction. Maybe if we do well enough we could all make something that eventually becomes canon.
Or not... One can dream right? |

I just want the Gallente to be something more than drones. For such a varied people there's got to be something, right?
We can try and I'm sure we'll see each other on the other side. Bring your friends. The more the merrier.
If anyone else does see this. Could you say what drives you to write the types of stories you do for Dust? I'd like to know and I'm sure we could all share some ideas. |

I think an aspect I would love to see is more people to shift their focus from the combat and destruction and more towards the people inside those dropsuits, sort of speak. |

I have never RPed before and while I would like to, from what I've seen I don't trust myself to do well, particularly since there's a lot of lore I know I'm missing that would probably help me do it well. I mean I know my character, his backstory and his motivations, I actually posted it somewhere when someone once asked "What is your character's backstory?". |

I think the fact not many of the fanfic writers aren't posting on this thread already says a lot. when ever anyone on the general discussion thread hot drops a comment like 'This gun is OP' it sparks a ton of heated and anxious comments but over here it remains disturbingly silent.
I'm pretty sure I could write the most horribly composed dribble and not even get so much as a 'You suck!' from the back of the auditorium. I'll take that as either sincere politeness or just apathy. |

I do not usually express my opinions on these stories with words, but I assure you that a lot of them are really good and I have at least tried to give a like to all the fictions I have liked. When I see something really horrible and blatantly lore breaking, I jump in and correct.
And as a small note, this forum is not simply for writing your own fiction pieces. Like in the EVE Online fiction forums, it is often used for discussing the lore of New Eden and asking questions about it. And those threads are the ones CCP is most often going to reply in. |

I hope this reaches you, my fellow authors. Our stories must be told. The Thinking Man's Strategy will continue, and thank you sir for your support and interest. I did pen a short story that will serve as the back story for a character that will be introduced in Chapter 2. The short story is titled "The Emissary".
My motivation for writing is probably the same as many of you, first and foremost a great appreciation for the amazing canvas created by CCP that is New Eden, and a strong desire to fill my characters drop suit or pod with an imperfect being who struggles amidst the horrors of never ending combat in a cause he deeply feels is just, a cause that he will painfully give his life for time and gruesome time again. I want to tell the tale of the price this never ending cycle of death and destruction extracts from a person as they endeavor to hold onto their humanity in the inhumane context of immortal warfare.
In a game that is fueled by real live player interaction, giving real voices and backstories to the characters we animate in our game play feels correct, I write for the hopeful enjoyment of you, the other players and writers who have embraced the concept of New Eden, who breath life into our interactions in every battle and throughout every constellation we inhabit here in CCP's digital sandbox.

Good to know readers and authors alike are out there.
Mamertine, it's a pity how right you are honestly, but don't let it discourage you.
Denak, I would love to discuss lore but currently I only know of the chronicles of which I've only read a few. It may seem morbid, but I really enjoyed the Methods of Torture stories for the four empires. I would also like to ask if you could give me a source to view information on Intaki and their customs, as well as a crash course on their language if such information exists. I need it to flesh out a character in my story. Plus I'm sure it would be an interesting read for some of us.
Temba, with regards to your story, "The Emissary", Wow... That is all. |

Well, there isn't much PF (prime fiction, CCP written info and stories aka. canon) and what little exists can be found here. However, my corporation, the Intaki Liberation Front has tons of player created fiction around, including a fully developed Intaki language. If you go to our website on the left side navigation bar there are five tabs for different information about Intaki.
- Economy, this shows some basic stats about the Intaki economy and in what ways money is made within Intaki and its colonies.
- Geography, gives some details about Intaki Prime, the homeplanet of the Intaki people
- History, basically a draft of all the information that exists of the Intaki history and how they ended up being where they are today.
- Kendu Kanarma, the description and ruleset of the Intaki-born sport, similar to football.
- Philosophy, describes the Intaki faith Ida in detail
- Language, by far the most interesting and useful one in my opinion. On the main page is a short description of the Intaki language and a small lexicon.
But if you really want to indulge yourself into the Intaki language(like I am), give Vaanin K'Intaki ( http://www.ilfcorp.com/docs/vaanin_k_intaki.pdf ) a read, it's an in-depth analysis of the Intaki language and how it works, perfect if you want to learn speak or write Intaki yourself. When you scroll further down the language page, there is a link for downloading a zip file for a full dictionary, along with some proverbs, common phrases, titles, profanity and a small guide on how to morph words to each lexical category. And since the Intaki language has its own font, the transliterator converts the letters you type into Sintrakis, perfect if you want to add some Intaki phrases for your fictions. An example could be this: a+ôa+¦a+ÿa+¦a+í, a+áa+ña+ôa+¦a+û a+ûa+¦a+Åa+¦a+ÿa+¦a+ó+ª a+æa+¦a+É -- Hello, I am Denak Kalamari.
Finally, our forums has a few threads discussing Intaki lore, and a member of our corp has created a blog that has additional info on Intaki culture. While most of it is in French and hasn't been updated for a while, it still has some nice info.
I hope these links help you make your character feel more Intaki, and you can always ask me if you have any further questions about the subject. |

I knew a lot of info would be incoming but, wow. I bow to you and thank you for presenting me with this treasure trove of information. Luckily the character won't appear for a while, so I'll have time to really dig into this. Thanks a lot. |
