It is different. But not fixed.
OK, Could be connection issues. But I still get kills when I shouldnt. and don't when I should.
THE CHANGE I have noticed, seems to be damage/range calculation. Several times yesterday a close shot did very little damage, the guy retreats and my second shot tears him apart. - But of course this could all just be linked to the above.
I don't understand what is so complicated. If my circle is central to the target, deal maximum damage at that range, if it is a little off centre, deal less.
If it is linked to lag issues, just make the damage calculation local to the same system controlling the local display, no? |

You need a very specific playstyle to truly use the shotgun like a beast. The rampant AR users / FOTM crowd don't usually move to different playstyles. So while I think we'll see an increase in shotgun usage, I don't think it will be anything like what happened with flaylock and mass drivers. So yah, I agree with ^ (pseudosnipre) |

Further feedback.
The shotgun isnt working at 100% but its a hell of a lot better than I can recently remember. So again thanks for the quick fix there CCP.
I think the main niggle I have with the SG now is that in higer lag / higer ping battles it does have some delay when firing.
I would say 7 - 8 / 10 matches it works really nice though, that's a huge improvement. |

While I am happy for you shotgunners (sort of cause I still hate you guys and gals ) the shotty is becoming pretty standard. I seem to die to more of those than anything else these days, but at least I'll still sometimes get the best of you all with my submachine gunning minmatar assault fit.

A LOT of folks min/maxxed over to the darkside of medium suits with shotguns. Those are not the bitter, crusty, mean bastard scouts that he is referring to. THOSE people, those SCOUTS, have suffered through craptacular shotgun performance for what seems like ages.... they have adapted to use lower damage weapons that leave them exposed in their flimsy armor for a lot longer to far deadlier targets. Their kill counts and ISK spent have suffered. Now those scouts have become even easier to kill with aim assist and hit detection improvements in 1.4.
The players he is referring to are the fast, stealthy, aware, fragile and extremely pissed off players in actual scout suits that love turning mercs into a fine red mist with extreme prejudice.
There is a special place in hell reserved for medium suit shotgun weenies, and those that control that place are shotgun scouts.

You are right. Now I have had another day or so to test, speed really isn't a helping factor much. I'm finding having additional hit points in armour, coupled with profile dampeners is much better. The base scout speed seems to be enough.
I tried with my usual kincats and found I could not escape anything any better than without them. The usual dodging + strafing tactics don't work no where near as much.
Obviously the aim assist is doing its job, but its working too well against scouts.
I would be curious to know what CCP had in mind when they said before they plan to give scouts some love... |

I have to disagree. Speed still has it's place. Just ask pseudosnipre.
He went something like 15/3 in an ambush I was in (sadly opposing team). I watched him mow through 6 people in about 5 seconds using what looked like a gallente proto scout hopped up on at least 2-3 complex kincats. It was angry.
Kin cats with an active scanner is both lethal and focussed. I had to make a fit just to try it out afterwards at which point I got stuck in an OMS that was 3 vs 7 (on the 3 side). Spent some time screwing around the first 9 deaths, then whipped out my proto kin cat suit and ended with a 22/11 finish and a 15 kill streak. Almost won it for my team of 3. Tons of fun even if I lost that one.
PSA: wolfmann has said that scouts get love hopefully in 1.5 but more likely 1.6 considering the amount of work they have to do on vehicles still.
Edit: I do have to mention that a balanced approach between speed and buffer will propably work the best. With the increased HP on armor plates, armor tanking a gallente scout is viable. 2 ferroscales/2 kincats or a 3 scales/1 kincat could work. |

Against normal players on public I found out that sprint-jumping is still a very viable option. Because the scouts run and therefore "fly" so much faster, I sometimes survive 3 bursts against me because after every shotgun-shot I circle-jump my opponent (once you get completely out of their sight, which this does, aim assist doesn't help them).
Try it and give me feedback :) |

Until the shotgun stops looking like a winch, it aint fixed. Ugliest damn thing I've ever seen. Then again it DOES look like Gallente tech... so that would explain a lot. |

Start your night playing with the breach....after a couple games switch back to regular shotgun and it will help be more accurate. You really have to time your shots with the breach...do wish it would either A) reload faster, or B) Have 4 in the clip. 2 in the clip and the awful reload speed is just too much. |
