I guess I did it in celebration of the 1.4 patch, and after continuing my reading on the lore...Well...I got entranced by the Universe. I have to say, it is one of the biggest and more...Freedom filled worlds I've ever played in. Well done, I have to say to CCP. I had a lot of fun, even just flying around in the never ending blackness that was space (Despite the lack of uber-direct control you're given over your ship as opposed to your merc)
I do have to ask, how in the world it is that CCP got to something so fun, when Dust, while fun, isn't at the level of enjoyability I got from exploring New Eden in EVE Online. What in the world did they do in EVE that they're doing so differently in DUST?

Well this is may seem off topic from the original question, but if your looking for a corp/alliance to join, u should join mine, look up Briscoe Magnum, tell him Jammer sent you, ok sorry, being top HR in my corp means i had to do that, and for the original question, is that well apparently EVE was like this 10 years ago, told to me by CEOPyrex, a 10 year eve player, who's got some serious stats, look him up on youtube, also technically, its CCP Shangai who are making this game for the most part, not the CCP guys who made EVE, correct me if im wrong on that subject of whos making that. |

Remember how Ion Storm made Daikatana, but also made Deus Ex and Thief? Same thing here. Once studio has all the old hats, the other has all the newbies and 'meh' guys. EVE is CCP Iceland, DUST is CCP China.
Also, in EVE, get into a corp ASAP, or at least find other people to play with. The enthusiasm will die fast if you don't have a buddy or a community sense. I can also extend your 14 day trial to 21 days, if you haven't bought in yet :p |

If you ignore all the impatient self entitled jerks on here, you'll realize that Dust is slowly getting better with each new patch. Sure, there's some growing pains here and there but the game will get better with age. Just gotta give it time. |

been playing eve since 2003 and back then , well i think its the same aproach as dust. The rage on forums was way less , eve players tend to be over 30 years with wife & kids and haz a little more
patience i geuss
seeing the forums , rage about a free game , its just , mmh let be nice , Silly
anyway i still think dust haz a great future , if you really fed up , just come back after some weeks/months and see if you enjoy it then.
Eve is after 10 years still beta , dying and dead , but the only Mmmorgp after a decade with a growing playerbase.
every year i have more fun with that game , but also with dust its getting better in my humble opinion at atleast

10 years of development over time, tweaking here and there, swinging nerfhammers all over the place etc. has made EVE the gem it is today.
Also, stuff gets changed up all the time in EVE, a pay to play game, and the QQ threads are generally of a higher quality than in Dust, a free to play game. |

Those QQ threads tend to have more weight, what with the paying community having an investment in the game and having a more solid 'numbers' approach to it. They want to make sure the game succeeds and that their money wasn't wasted. I feel it's harder to balance a game with more direct player input, like an FPS, but it's harder to make deeper gameplay in an RPGesque world like EVE. If they could get EVE to last as long as it has though, and it has no signs of slowing, I have faith that DUST will find it's niche. Strafe/DOT shooters are already a rare breed :c |

my highlight of eve is the 'iam going to blow your ship up with my shiny ship' aspect of the game (PvP) CCP has had its ups and downs with eve over more than 10 years and currently CCP is expericing the 'High' of EVE i havent played a better MMO (exepct for star wars galaxies (R.I.P), Dust of course and the new FF14 (FCKN AWSOME AND RECOMMEND YOU PLAY) |

You can really tell the difference between QQ threads and constructive feedback on the EVE-O forums. Especially since QQ threads generally tend to get shutdown a lot faster by mods and other posters.
FPS is balance-able, and yes, it is harder, agreed. However, the countless threads on this or that do nothing towards contributing to balancing.
I do like niche games :) Instead of another generic 60 bux shooter/game |

I played Eve Online since Apochrypha (2009) but left after 4+ years of trying to stay up on the plateu, but the bulldozer got me and pushed me off the cliff again. Seriously, Saying that Eve isn't for everyone, is perhaps the most apropriate response I ever read. Most on the Eve forums will tell you to get the hell out, and ask if they can have your stuff as you leave
It's like that on most older game forums I suppose. The veterans have decided this is THE way this game is supposed to be played, and if you don't like it, make sure to close the door behind you as you leave. But it is supposed to be a mmoRPG, even if the "rpg" part is mostly about PvP and alliances, and not about the game lore. |

I can imagine what that entailed... mining and pve... bore... you guys need to pvp!
Seriously anyone starting eve, 1st of give it a few days to get used to the controls and menus , get familiar with the ships and equipment. After that if you want action, join RvB or an alliance like that. Constant pvp, jump in with cheap ass ships with cheap ass fits and do it as you would do in DUST. |

I'm sure it won't take 5 years to become REALLY enjoyable. 2 at most probably, maybe 2 and a half to become truly different in a way that is obvious. And no, it didn't take EVE 10 years to become good. EVE just had its tenth birthday. There's a difference. |
