Seriously, Saying that Eve isn't for everyone, is perhaps the most apropriate response I ever read. Most on the Eve forums will tell you to get the hell out, and ask if they can have your stuff as you leave It's like that on most older game forums I suppose. The veterans have decided this is THE way this game is supposed to be played, and if you don't like it, make sure to close the door behind you as you leave. But it is supposed to be a mmoRPG, even if the "rpg" part is mostly about PvP and alliances, and not about the game lore. Yes and no. There are many playstyles you can participate in. BUT, and the big BUT here is, you have to accept that even if you decide on a non-violent route, or want to mine/carebear all day, you may or may not get your game play interfered in by others. Most people told to 'get out' generally tend to whine and ask CCP to change game mechanics for them so they do not have to take actions themselves to mitigate likelihood of such interference. Hell, I know a lot of industrialists in EVE that tell carebears and other risk averse crybabies to 'get out and gimme your stuff before you go'. |

I have to say, it is one of the biggest and more...Freedom filled worlds I've ever played in. Well done, I have to say to CCP. I had a lot of fun, even just flying around in the never ending blackness that was space (Despite the lack of uber-direct control you're given over your ship as opposed to your merc)
I do have to ask, how in the world it is that CCP got to something so fun, when Dust, while fun, isn't at the level of enjoyability I got from exploring New Eden in EVE Online. What in the world did they do in EVE that they're doing so differently in DUST?
Any EVE vets know? been playing eve since 2003 and back then , well i think its the same aproach as dust. The rage on forums was way less , eve players tend to be over 30 years with wife & kids and haz a little more patience i geuss seeing the forums , rage about a free game , its just , mmh let be nice , Silly anyway i still think dust haz a great future , if you really fed up , just come back after some weeks/months and see if you enjoy it then. Eve is after 10 years still beta , dying and dead , but the only Mmmorgp after a decade with a growing playerbase. nice , been also in fw caldari , ******* nice way to get pvp and loads of isk with low skills. now have a small corp in 0.0 sec , you flying caldari ships? every year i have more fun with that game , but also with dust its getting better in my humble opinion at atleast srry for the bad english o/ edit: if you got questions with eve or need help or so , mail one of my mains in eve: Lugalbandak Lol, I'm 30 and have a wife and kid. Totally me your stereotype. I play eve now too. Thrag Warwick. Currently fighting for the Caldari in FW.
nice , been in caldari fw too , nice way to pvp and make load of isk with low skills , fly dangerous o/ |

yep bittervets tend to be bitter , can i haz your stuff hahah.
and yes eve is truly a pvp game , but im industrialist myself with 2 accounts and buildings things is cool too , you just need the right enviroment , there is no easy mode eve , you can littery loose a month of grinding in 2 sec.
its unfurgiving , but thats its is strenght also , hell you can even loose skillpoints and teh best thing i find is that currently trainign all skills in eve takes about 19 years lol haha , you have to specilized , or make multi accounts.
plex system is also great , i have 3 accounts , but i dont pay real life euros for it

Also, stuff gets changed up all the time in EVE, a pay to play game, and the QQ threads are generally of a higher quality than in Dust, a free to play game. Those QQ threads tend to have more weight, what with the paying community having an investment in the game and having a more solid 'numbers' approach to it. They want to make sure the game succeeds and that their money wasn't wasted. I feel it's harder to balance a game with more direct player input, like an FPS, but it's harder to make deeper gameplay in an RPGesque world like EVE. If they could get EVE to last as long as it has though, and it has no signs of slowing, I have faith that DUST will find it's niche. Strafe/DOT shooters are already a rare breed :c Agreed. You can really tell the difference between QQ threads and constructive feedback on the EVE-O forums. Especially since QQ threads generally tend to get shutdown a lot faster by mods and other posters. FPS is balance-able, and yes, it is harder, agreed. However, the countless threads on this or that do nothing towards contributing to balancing. I do like niche games :) Instead of another generic 60 bux shooter/game
AGREED.
though , I have to say , all this feedback and rants would also be a great way to refine your patches in the future. if theres one thing CCP isn't short on its feedback...good and bad. |

Like many others said, give it a few more years :(
Dust is getting compared with Eve a lot (which makes sense) but keep in mind they are both at very different stages in their life, many people hated Eve the first few years as well (to return years later) and it has been wished dead more then a few times. It took several years for that vast universe to grow organically to the complex and interconnected systems it has today.
Patches didnt wen't smoothly in space either in the past , with the most memorable one where the boot.ini file got deleted (meaning your computer wouldn't start up anymore). When playing a ccp game (as a service) you'll always be playing a beta-version where you'll have to bear with bugs and other oddities that come with it.
Eve is certainly not for everybody, mostly because of the slow pace and that it doesn't provide the instant satisfaction most other games do, it can be much more compared to a virtual world and society simulator, where the combat and scamming stories are the loudest but there is a niche in there for anyone, even dedicated roleplayers, just need to find to right people. |
