There are one or two maps where the heavy rail cannon installations can reach the mcc. And they can do damage. But only the rail cannon for some reason. And it does such a small fraction that its not worth it. Tested with MATH. |

It took 35-40min. You are going to post it right?

Missile tanks hurt it too. So do forge guns, blaster tanks, and anything with enough reach out and touch. But when you're doing damage in the thousand or so range against something with 4M shield/armor. Well, it takes a long... long... Flippin' time.

This is the last 2 minutes. For claritys sake, their MCC health and ours were the same when we started. About 3 ticks off of full. You can see how much of a difference shooting it makes over a long period of time. And the video does show the post screen after you blow it up.
Spoiler, no unicorns. Sadly the payout didn't match the work involved. Truly an easter egg / trophy, couple million isk... 1 day booster... Something should have turned up for blowing up an MCC manually. It TAKES A LONG TIME.
1.4 makes me sad. |

Ha, used to be a good vehicle glitch that complimented it pretty well. Basically, if someone called in a vehicle there was a chance that an infinite amount of them would follow behind up to the map cap delivered by RDVs. So when this happened with tanks everyone would jump in and start firing away at the MCC and pop it.
It also resulted in some pretty clutch saves. If your team was getting stomped and there was nothing you could do to get back into the complex to reactivate the null cannons, you could call in a rail tank in the back and fire away to knock out the last few ticks yourself.
Better still, it gave you wp for doing so. |

Spkr4theDead wrote:Lol no it doesn't. I was shooting the MCC with my ADV large missile turret, and a squadmate was shooting with PRO large missiles. Didn't do a thing, even though all missiles hit every time and we had red hit markers. Unless you're practically in the enemy redline, Missiles (yes, even from a Large Turret) explode before reaching the enemy MCC. Blaster rounds don't reach either. Railguns on the other hand...
Also, near the end days of Precursor, my girlfriend got a Sniper Rifle MCC kill. |

Dude have you played Ashlands Domination? you can be just about under the enemy MCC at the redline. Clearly I'm not wrong or we wouldn't have discovered this... Some people. |

I have been here since may-june 2012, it was possible at first to shoot the MCC and damage it. This feature was removed when CCP noticed that players would stand around shooting at the MCC rather than trying to capture the points. It was a big deal back then, so I can confirm that you CANNOT damage the MCC by using turrets, weapons, etc. I should know, it was one of my favorite things to do back then. |

Jak'Saan wrote:So while we were stuck in an Ashlands Domination with the only Null Cannon broken (blocked by the building) me and 3 of my corp-mates and one guy from A.N.O.N.Y.M.O.U.S. decided to test out the noob-theory. Since the only null-cannon was blocked and the entire red team rage quit (there may or may not have been some redlining involved. Did you know you could run completely around most of the buildings in their redline, take a second or two to kill someone who has spawned in, and still have seconds to spare when you get out the other side of the building?) our MCCs were mutually at 50% shield and 100% armor.
After about 30 minutes of trying to crash the A.N.O.N.Y.M.O.U.S. guy's LAV's and tanks by eject crashing my LAV into him and his vehicles, and jarring his dropship enough to make him crash into the ground and almost blowing up, he hid, and I got bored. So I jumped into my LAV's missile turret and as though I were angrily shaking my fist at the CCP gods themselves, I began shooting the enemy MCC. And then I saw it...
Soon I started to notice that Their MCC had 1/2 a bar less then ours. As soon as my corp-mates confirmed what I saw (and believed me) they each chimed in calling lav's and Tanks, and now the enemy MCC was 3 bars less than ours! Even our A.N.O.N.Y.M.O.U.S. friend was a believer! I zealously drove my LAV around the map frantically searching for any large turret and quickly abandoned my old-faithful for the bigger stronger gun! We were going to be the first ones EVER! History in the making!!!! 11,000 + kills and 1 MCC. My camera ready to for the End of Battle screen to show everyone just how much damage I had done! What would happen? How many war points for killing an MCC???????
...
The last time I checked, the enemy MCC was around nine whole bars less than ours with only about 30% Armor remaining... and then, like a CCP bully with their arm extended, palm pushing back on my forehead while I swung my short, stubby arms as hard as I could, the CCP bully got bored. We were all suicided and ejected out of the game, no End of Match screen, no credit, no nothing. Thus ended my first day in Dust 514 version 1.4.
So shooting the MCC does help.

Clearly I'm not wrong or we wouldn't have discovered this... Some people. My point was that, on most maps, you have to move in pretty close to the enemy MCC before missiles will hit. I was actually backing you up against someone claiming that you were wrong, and pointing out that Missiles CAN reach, but often won't, and he was probably shooting from too far away when he tried it.
I've so far only been... uhhh... let's say "fortunate"... enough to play one Domination match on Ashland. It was while I was testing Shotguns to try and figure out what was wrong with them. So no, I haven't actually tried aiming for the enemy MCC on that map specifically, but in MOST maps, you need to get pretty close to the redline if you want a chance to hit the target. |

Make sure to post a vid of you staring and shooting at the MCC "getting it damaged" so the rest of us can laugh at you. But don't believe anything I just wrote, I don't know what I am talking about... |

Also included for your eyerolling benefit is the post screen showing how much damage was dealt.

They basically nerfed your ability to 'just shoot the MCC' most likely by raising the MCC health, and the null cannon damage to a specified amount higher than any team would be capable of dishing out assuming the game was working properly. Actually, they just put ridiculous damage modifiers on every ground-based weapon when shooting the MCC, and didn't apply those modifiers to the MCC's weapons or NULL Cannons.
When they first made the change, they still had a permanently-visible "efficiency" rating that popped up on almost every weapon when using fine aim, and players could see the efficiency rating on targeting the MCC. For most weapons, it's 0%, with a few at 1 - 10% (Railguns I believe were at the 10% end of the scale) |
