So people, this thread is very simple, im going to put down a bunch of posts below this one. If you "like" the post then you agree with the message it depicts. So for example, one post will say "Mass drivers need a nerf" if you agree you'll finger hump that like button. Another post right underneath will say "Mass drivers DONT need a nerf" if you agree you'll finger hump thatttt like button.
Now..... BEFORE you all call me out for "like whoring" ill switch to another character to put up the votes.
Also, these votes will mostly include controversial weapons sooooo AR's, Snipers, Forge guns, SR's, Mass drivers. Ill look to add more, but depending on how many people post it might be impossible. I will keep a tally at the top so you guys don't have to scroll down or anything. (though the tally wont come unless the thread is semi-popular enough), Other then that, feel free to discuss what you guys thinks needs a balance pass over! |

People complain about things all the time. The purpose of this thread is to calculate just how many people believe in a certain statement. So rather then just reading 1000 posts to try and get some sort of biased idea of "what the public thinks" This thread creates a place where people can vote on one topic (or five in this case) and from that we can see just how people actually feel about the controversial weapons I put up there.
In other words, its easier to understand a list of numbers that is less then one page long, then 500 pages worth of peoples ignorant/biased opinions. If you noticed, each of the "vote" spots above was listed as vaguely as possible, and none of them imply that they are a better answer then the other. All of them are neutral. This "vote" lets us see what people agree with most, without having to read their often biased/ignorant opinion about it. |

Like I said above, these posts are neutral on purpose. I want to see PUBLIC OPINION as to what is "OP" and what isn't. Useless? I don't think that, you might, but I don't. I don't offer any "fixes" to "problems" that may or may not be in the game, im just trying to see what people actually think is a problem, and what people don't think is a problem. So I put up 5 weapons in the game that I viewed as controversial, based off what ive read on the forums, and what ive experienced in game.
Your saying this thread is useless because its just a rehash of other threads, I would like you to link me to another thread that allows you to vote in the same way this one does. The whole point of this thread was to sort through the cluster of other threads, and see just exactly how people really think. Or at the very least. To see what they agree with more over the other. Sorry im making your day "that much harder" by cluttering what is apparently YOUR public forum with "useless" threads. |

I started to like things, then I realized these generic statements prove nothing. All of the weapons you speak of need slight tweaks.
AR needs more kick/spread, MD needs about 1m less radius, assault forge gun could use a slightly longer charge time, scrambler is a really good spot. |

Im not giving any suggestions because im trying to keep the thread, or at least myself, un-biased so as to not alter the natural voting progression. Now if you have an opinion on what you think should be changed, I would happily discuss it with you and offer up my thoughts on the idea, but I wont tell you what I personally think needs to happen to various items. |

Fair enough, but its impossible for me to add all those variables into a voting thread like this (simply because threads aren't ment for voting honestly.....). I agree with you, a lot of weapons just need slight tweaks, but instead of putting up "weapon x needs a clip size reduction" or whatever, I put up "weapon x is either balanced, or needs a nerf" so that it covers all of the possible fixes into one statement.
Its simple really, most if not all, of the weapons in this game appear to be balanced or in need of a nerf. Theres only one maybe two weapons that come to mind that I think needs some sort of buff, but for simplicities sake I left "buffing" out of the equation. |

and then I proceeded to explain why I had to do that...... I wasn't going to wait 5 minutes between each "reserved" post I had to put down. (that's how long it would take with my alt) That means just to right down 10 "reserved" posts would take 50 minutes, and it would take another 50 to change each "reserved" post to the intended statement. This would give people farrrrr too much time to post something between the "reserved" lines and effectively ruin the flow of the whole thread.
So I decided to switch back to my main and explain why I decided to use my main character for 9 out of 10 of the vote threads. If you read the entire original post you should no this already........ |

You can see public opinion by trawling through all the other "This is OP, that is UP" threads on the forum ... as CCP devs have to do on a daily basis ... you're just providing them another one to read which will offer no opnion or debate on why they are OP or UP or any constructive feedback on how to balance them, which is what you WILL find in the other threads.
It's relatively easy to see what people think is or isn't a problem by looking at what people are talking about in the first few pages of general discussion of Feedback and Requests sections ... if the Mass Driver is conceived as out of balance there will be threads discussing it ... if the SMG is working well there won't be ... it's relatively simple for CCP do figure out.

It's no MY public forum, I don't own the dust514.com domain ... it belongs to CCP and it is them who has to waste time trawling through it rather than doing things constructive for the game like considering how a double sp event would be played out to maximise sp gain before they made a devblog and forum thread promoting an event which encourages avoiding active sp in ambush matches only. Perhaps the dev who has to read this was the one who would have realised the flaw in the plan, but he was too busy trawling through junk forum threads rehashing the same debates over and over.
If you've got an opinion on something, use the search function and comment on an existing discussion, if there isn't one create one, if your opinion has already been expressed like that post to support it. If these forums had a little less rubbish in them there'd be a few more devs to work on hashing out solutions to these problems and they might get fixed right the first time rather than needing several balance passes to get an acceptable result and leading to more junk whinging whining QQing threads pushing all the proper balance debate threads out beyond page 10.
I think it's time for a break from these forums, nothings gonna change the way people use them. See you after 1.4 and a few thousand likes o7 |
