So I'm playing Skirmish and Domination. I'm running solo as usual. Someone sends me an invite to their squad. Out of nowhere I feel my fingers type on the keyboard.
"Why squad up? Skrim and Dom is nothing more than ambush with objectives."
At first I thought I was just being a little too cruel but then I realized that was my epiphany about those two game modes. I have played in Skirm and Dom with corp members and random folks. It's still the same. Blueberries don't attack the objectives. Folks just sit behind cover, never pushing forward or flanking. You got 5 people trying to hack an objective but no one is watching their six (Just why in the hell you need more than one person hacking is beyond me). Everyone wants to be a sniper only killing 2 folks per match (I'm sorry but some of you snipers **** me off. If we are losing, get out your hiding spot and help out!!)
Is this just me? I get so pissed that I leave and go play ambush. I can count on my hand how many times I had a good battle in Skirm and Dom. And no, I didn't win them all either. It was just an overall good game.

Whenever I go into dom it's a good fight most of the time (very rarely is one team redlined). I usually always roll with a squad because it's just more fun that way and usually the blueberries follow our lead when we try to push an objective. If we start hacking they come in there and speed the hack up or just look around like meat shields. |

I run solo almost all the time and I completely agree with everything that you said. It is amazing how many times that I will hack the objective on a domination match by myself and suddenly see 10 blueberries come out from their rock. They will stomp around the hacked objective like they have taken over the world.

Running solo is pretty much the only way I play. I'll squad up with other people and help protect them either as a HMG or Forge heavy, or I push objectives and keep people repped with my commando. But it's usually 40% for being on a decent, dominating random squad. As long as they're good at the game and try to push for objectives and we're not opposing a team of full squads of corp members that are stomping us with better teamwork I'll pull my own weight.
And hacking an objective with a bunch of people helps in two ways: 1) The hack gets completed wayyyyyyyyy fast. 2) If there's an enemy sniper camping the objective he won't be able to kill everyone fast enough to stop the hack.

I look at the roster before the game. If it has a premade squad of known leet protostompers and I'm not on their team I either leave, do something other than stupidly charge the objective as an assault, go for personal kills or... Go sniper. I get more kills as a sniper than I do trying to shoot down protostompers with little support.
If I am on the protostompers team I do the same thing only with less worry because they take care of the objective just fine.
If it looks like the game will be evenly matched then I try to worry about hacking things. If I then don't see team effort I go back to the same thing I mentioned above.
See this is what CCP in their infinite wisdom of FPS has caused. Is there really any need to do it any other way when it has already been proven to be fruitless.
Sorry, I get tired of doing something again and again and like a mouse with a Pavlovian response thinking it's going to be different the next time. |

It's not "just you," but you're clearly part of the problem.
Why are you playing skirmish or dom without a squad on mics in the first place? YOU are one of these people that are causing these matches to be clusterf***s.
Either:
A. get into squads and play the game as the squad based shooter it's meant to be
or
B. stop complaining about no one being in squads or working together

I can tell you how to solve this.
Add 2 more player slots in a match making it 18 vs 18 (3 squads of 6)
1. Let Corps deploy Full teams, and match one full Corp against another.
2. If Corps are not able to deploy a full team, then team their 6 man squad with 2 other 6 man squads. Match them against another similar team or a full Corp team.
3. If you are not in a 6 man squad you get teamed with other incomplete squads/solo players. You're opponent will also be other incomplete squads/solo players |

I like 1 & 2, but I think 3 is silly.
If you aren't in a proper squad, then you should get teamed up with all the other stragglers. There isn't, however, any good reason to get matched up against another team of stragglers.
The incentive should be for players to put in the teeny tiny modicum of effort required to get into a squad. If you don't, it's your own fault. Losing because you can't be bothered to try seems reasonable to me. If you want to do better, get in a squad and actually play the game. |

You didn't read my post. You only responded to a trigger.
If you read my post, you would see that I say that I play with my corpmates and I've played with complete strangers.
Yet, the problem I'm discussing still happens
So I don't know why you went off on that tangent.
No I'm not part of the problem. Even if I roll by myself (just what if nobody is logged on? riddle me that), I'm intelligent enough to support blueberries, to help a blueberry while in a firefight, to speak on mic and call out enemy positions and locations. You can do that without being a squad you know. I've played games that I weren't even in a squad but the battle reports shows my name as number one player.
Please my friend, don't assume that I just jump in a match and have a fit about it. I'm an good teammate. I know how to play my position when its necessary to support the team.
But it's hard to do when its only 3 guys including myself, actually playing. Not only are you fighting against the opposing team, you're also trying to make up for your teams lack of effort. The rest seems to be eating hot dogs and watching sportscenter. |

The problem is, if they pitted the randoms against full squads, then to be "fair" they would also be teamed with full squads. I'm currently sick and tired of being in matches that are 6 (my squad) vs 16 (the other team) because at the beginning of the match over half my team sprints to a point they can view nearly the entire battleground, takes a knee and snipes.
My squad and I should not be punished for deploying in proper squads by being teamed up with incohesive random smurfs who fail to contribute anything to winning the battle. |

The problem I see is that your solution would lead to players being penalized for playing in squads by having a harder time finding matches, and only playing against the hardest opponents. If you wanted easier matches and to play more often, you would simply queue in solo. With the insane SP grindfest of Dust 514 and the huge numbers of min/maxxers in the community, this means most people would just queue solo. Ultimately, it would actually discourage squad play even more.
If being lazy and not squading up (in a squad based shooter) leaves you on a team with all of the other lazy players who don't really want to play, I would hope it would incentivize people to spend the extra couple of minutes getting organized before hand.
Of course, something like this would really require that CCP add some sort of new player experience (tutorial) that explains to people the basics of the gameplay, so they actually understand they're supposed to be in squads. So, probably won't ever happen, since (as far as I can tell) no one at CCP understands the game well enough to create a tutorial in the first place. |

My squad and I should not be punished for deploying in proper squads by being teamed up with incohesive random smurfs who fail to contribute anything to winning the battle.
I think you're confused. If they implemented 1 & 2 then if you're in a squad of 6, you wouldn't be placed on a team of random players. This incentivizes taking the time to get into a squad before getting into the match... which would, in turn, lead to more actual squad play (in a squad based shooter, this seems to me like a good thing).
Squads should be placed into matches with other squads on their team, people who queue randomly by themselves with no interest in playing with others should be thrown onto teams with other people who don't want to play the game as it were designed. I just don't see any reason why the lazy lone wolfers should get a pass on playing good opponents. |

I play SOLO ALL the time. But im playing for the win. If someone sends me a squad invite i'll squad up,because my 800-1200 WP are going to help that squad get orbital strikes, that at the same time will help my team. So if you dont care about winning ,then not squadding up is fine. If you prefer winning, An Orbital strike can usually make the difference.

there is so much wrong with what you posted...perhaps your perception is why you experience this.
I always flank, or cover people hacking... sometimes I do help hack (you know the objective hacks faster when you do this...) because if its a cru or a null cannon in skirmish the quicker its hacked the quicker the enemy stops spawning there... I agree with you on the snipers though. |

First off I play sniper, I also play Heavy and Logi. What I play determines on the board or how I feel I want to play. Do not bash snipers, I have held off wave after wave of attacking reds at a point to keep you from being red lined. I also have kept forge snipers at bay and other snipers from making your life miserable. If a sniper only gets 2 kills, there are many factors to it. One sniper is playing tag with another sniper and is locked down in an area trying to stay alive or trying to keep the other sniper busy. Two poor sniping positions, I am not going to rush out into the open to make you happy. That goes against the play of a sniper, its like asking a nova knifer to rush a heavy or AR head on. Being a sniper is more than kills, its about stealth and tactics. One tactic is to keep the enemy off balance, hitting them from different angles and causing mass chaos. When they see there friend die in front of them, then another, and then as soon as they hide(BONG) head shot. Person is thinking how and where are they, fear creeps into them with frustration. Now they are angry or scared and they are not thinking of you or the objective. They are now focused on me and when is the next time someone will fall from my shot.
You're opponent will also be other incomplete squads/solo players I like 1 & 2, but I think 3 is silly. The problem is, if they pitted the randoms against full squads, then to be "fair" they would also be teamed with full squads. I'm currently sick and tired of being in matches that are 6 (my squad) vs 16 (the other team) because at the beginning of the match over half my team sprints to a point they can view nearly the entire battleground, takes a knee and snipes or calls in an LAV and drives around in it the entire duration of the match. (Recently had a murder taxi push me off of an enemy CRU 1 tick from having it hacked. A Proto heavy then spawned in behind me!) My squad and I should not be punished for deploying in proper squads by being teamed up with incohesive random smurfs who fail to contribute anything to winning the battle. I think you are confused because you said exactly what I said, only in a different way.
Also if you are in an incomplete squad, then being put into the matches with randoms will more clearly allow those randoms to see the benefits of squading up, without muddying the water with a good protostomping - which simply makes random players not consider the reason they lost.
It would also give recruiters a nice venue to to play and screen potential future Corp members. |

Share your thoughts I play SOLO ALL the time. After the match is done, you just leave the squad and keep at it...
I think you're not comprehending my posts. I have said that I squad up with corpmates and randoms, yet it's still the same problem.
If you're experiencing great Skirms and Doms...then I'm glad you have perfect matches.
Yet others who agree with me have experienced the same I have. Some things are just not black and white as many of the opposed thinkers suggest.
And I'm all for being in a squad. But lets be honest here. Squads provide extra points for objectives, streamline for precision strikes and coordinated team work.
I can do the latter without even being in a squad. And like I responded to the other guy, I have been a blueberry in a objective based match and came out number one without the help of a squad. |

So you just got stuck at the sniper part? So you don't agree with the idea that if we are losing, snipers should change fits and help out on the ground?
In order to understand what I am saying, you need to put your emotions aside and view it objectively. Snipers do that. It's not a question of if they do or don't. But I have seen snipers just have two kills for an entire slaughter match. They are not even calling out objectives or enemy locations.
If you didn't fall under that category, then why you get upset? Please stop trying to derail my thread for your own personal gain and stay on topic. Make a thread about snipers and we discuss it there.
In this thread I'm discussing what I have experienced as player, solo or within squad, in Skirm or Dom matches that acts as negatives to a match. |

Everyone and their momma thinks they are a sniper. It's completely ruined objectives gamemodes because 90% of your blueberries will be behind the redline 80% of the game. Dom/skirm games quite literally are now determined by how many snipers are on each team, the one with more loses. I've played matches of 4v4 because 12 on each team were sniping, TOTAL GARBAGE. Play ambush, all the real players play ambush because theres hardly any snipers and the games are quick. no punkass redline for snipers. I have a thales with 5 complex damage mods, and I hardly ever use it because sniping is boring and the cheapest thing on dust. I'd rather attack. |

Running solo takes away a large advantage for your team no matter what mode you are playing. If your running solo you will not get an orbital.

The giant advantage? Truthfully the precision can be clutch or the nail in the coffin. But other than that, the precision is just a killstreak reward. You can still do damage and win without a precision.
I understand that you figure to sell the importance of being in a squad. Trust me, I know and understand that.
But that's not the discussion here. The discussion is based around the problem of players not being "active" within Skirm and Dom matches as compared to the minority of objective based matches that I have played.
Again, its not black and white. You don't squad up and the heavens open up. You can still be in a squad and having yourself playing 6 against 20. Your team members (not squad mates) lack of enthusiasm can still cost the game. Cause you find yourself racing against time since most are nothing more than clone reserve drainers. If the team realizes they can clone your team, they will rush to eliminate the weaker players.

Sounds like you are simply trying to lure people into an argument which nobody can even theoretically win honestly where you are trying to prove that for you there is no advantage to squading up. If you want to believe that then you can. However like i said you are putting your team at a potential disadvantage because your warpoints are not getting counted as an orbital. If you want to be a good doobie just squad up with some randoms or make your own squad and try pulling people in and hope you get an orbital. I dont need to know jack about how you play to know what the disadvantage is when you dont squad up in dust. Even those lazy snipers are contributing more if they are in a squad. At least their warpoints count towards an orbital and especially in an ambush can make a huge diff. In a skirm its a great way to clear an objeective to hack it. |

No I'm not luring people into argument. LOL! Who's arguing here? When you responded to my post, you responded as if I only play solo and because of me not choosing to play in squad, I'm merely putting myself at a disadvantage.
Trust me, I'm not the best but I am a smart player. I know of the advantages of squadding up. Yet, when I have been in squads, I have experienced the same thing.
I feel like a broken record here. This thread was created to see if others experience this problem with or without a squad. Again, everything is not black and white as some as you might imply.
If I wanted an argument, that could have been accomplished with ease a long time ago. |

Now that you are so skilled and good at this game, you could try to help teach new players in your squad how to improve their gameplay. My only issues with skirmish and dom is going against stacked corp squads deploying proto equipment and tanks while being one of 16 randoms on my team.
I like going solo and squad up with other random players, to me you are just another random blue dot, not better or worse than everyone else. It is fun trying to work together with 5 other people from around the globe at all ages from the 12 year olds to the 40+ year old gamers. It give me a kick when we manage to work together.
You just continuer going easy mode, only squadding with your proto mates and talking down at everyone else. Use you god damned godly skills til teach new players the game and help increase the player count instead of alienating them. |

I take it with that hostility in your post we have met before on the battlefield. I hope to meet you again so I can rattle your brain when you realize you can't do anything to stop me from obliterating your opposition into oblivion.

Haha, yes, we have met and yes it has usually not been to my advantage. You are most welcome to hunt me down on the battlefield. If you are in your proto squad I will most likely run in BPO scout fitting with remote explosive hoping to get a cheap kill on one of your proto suits. Else I will be in my logi suit providing support for my team. You know, the team I appreciate being part of compared to you whom would prefer playing without any blueberries as you call them.
EDIT: I have nothing against you personally, do not know you. I just got tired of listening to everyone calling the team mates for blueberries etc. as they are worth nothing and only a hinderance for securing the victory. I see them as team mates all trying to archive victory with the skills and means each person have available. |

LOL I like stuff like this!! I tell you what...I will run my milita fit with GEK and Locus. I normally don't run proto unless A) I feel like leveling the odds or B) I just want to have some fun.
And you are welcomed to hunt me down as well. I enjoy friendly challenges. Helps bring out the best in players. Hope to see you real soon. |
