MYSTERY SOLVED

The only reason I can come to such a conclusion is that there is an officier among the Sleeper ranks that causes nothing but fear and dread; and unboundable , unstoppable man hell-bent on destruction. Perhaps he's been slighted in his past review, maybe he himself has witnessed the fall of the Sleeper race, slowly and painfully watching his entire family, his entire people, his entire lineage vanish into the vast empty dark that is the unfeeling space. In the effort to protect his people, he volunteered to be the guardian ai, watching those who still have survived the madness, who linger in stasis with the faint hope of finding a cure. You can only remain sane for so many years before the isolation breaks you, until the madness seeps into every fiber of your being. And since it's transferred into everything you have grasp on, even the dead pilot sitting in his craft in an entry hanger isn't escapeable from your reach. Hidden deep within the neuro implant used to relay info through out the dead empire you wait, until you're thrown into a fresh body, able to move, to feel, to react. And then, is when you strike, swallowing unknown fools consciousness left and right. The only thing they can do, is scrawl a message, a code hidden long in their own minds, warning the others that you are no longer dormant.

DNA repair protein RAD51 homolog 4

So the Sleepers are early Jove, Architect faction. On top of that they are cloned. Now the Jove disease is caused evidently by errors in their code from the thousands upon thousands of years of genetic manipulation.

Unfortunately, I don't see it. Since the Jovian Disease appears to be mental and not related to tumors, or the organs that the protein in part has a hand in. It'd have to be something in the brain.
