Really really good post from ninja many thanks. I am tired from all these QQing about the both sides.
I am in FEC-Leadership too and i was sitting in the conversation with Movado Zatara and Cubs. Like stabby i think too thats not all at EoN are bad. So many thanks to Zatara an Mavado for trying to find a solution.
The fact is.....its cant be that cubs locket so many districts and he makes isk nevertheless. He said we have to fight for districts or to paid. We dont wont to paid for districts so cubs pls unlock to let us fight
The point is i/we know, the most of us cant beat Teamplayers and i respect this team a lot. But a fact is too : Every corp alliance may have so many districts like he can defent by yourself. (thats EoN-¦s own words) So also why locked you all these districts?
I think i must no more to say that u understand what i mean |

When last they introduced changes to PC, a lot of people warned CCP about the possible loopholes and exploits. Autolocking districts, low numbers on clone packs, how difficult it would be for new corps to get in PC, ... everything.
It's all in this thread: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=93217
What cracks me up about that thread is that at the start it was like this:

So is feedback on this stuff, let us know what you think because we want to deploy it all Thursday :-)

Hey guys! A quick update on the dev blog:
We are aware that there may possibly be a way to lock a district indefinitely. We have discussed this with the CPM and internally. For now we are going forward with tomorrows release of all the information included in this dev blog. We have monitoring in place to see how things go over. We are also working on plans that we can implement early or mid next week depending how this weekend goes.
Thank you everyone who has been providing feedback here, on IRC, twitter, and just anywhere else.
That is all for now. Carry on. :)
In other words: "Hey guys! We know those changes allow a glaring exploit, but we are going along with them because we are cool like that."
So these problems were called a month and a half ago, before changes were implemented. CCP acknowledged them, but decided to go along with it because they just know better.
A month and a half later, with lower player population, they start talking about solving a problem they created. A problem we warned them before they created it. I wonder what they want when they ask for feedback, because it is certainly not feedback. |

The community is far from awesome, but CCP is certainly not better.
You should read that thread, because it was one of the few cases in which the community actually gave useful feedback. The fact that it was systematically ignored does not encourage to give more.
That leaves the forum only for nerf qq or troll threads and posts. Like yours. |

Okay, the exploit has been used now, on a large scale. Luckily you have a plan that you've been able to implement for over a month, so you can fix this immediately. Right? |

Baal Roo wrote:
The problem is that you guys acquired all of this land while PC was unplayable to a large chunk of the playerbase due to lag and memory leaks, and while the balance was arguably as skewed and "broken" as it's ever been towards a few FOTM setups.
Heck, I'd be surprised if the majority of players even realized you guys were grabbing so much land, most of us didn't even look at the stats for PC for months. Now that the majority of the technical problems with PC are fixed, and the game is a little bit more balanced, everyone takes another look at the game mode and lo and behold; 1 group seems to own most of the territory.
Now, this would be fine if the equilibrium could be fixed by attacking your districts and whittling down your hold to just the amount of districts you guys can hold (which was the main intent of the FEC). Unfortunately, with the broken mechanic of being able to "lock down" your districts and still turn a profit, you can pretty much sit on all that land inevitably.
Is this your fault? No. You guys saw an opportunity and took it. Unfortunately for you guys though, just like so many other aspects of the game, CCP's mistakes are going to have to negatively effect someone in order to fix them.
So, if you guys want to sit on those districts and leave them locked indefinitely, then go for it, it just helps prove how broken the game mode really is. However, if you don't want to sit on them and keep them locked, then it looks to me like you're either going to keep getting attacked until you reach a size that you can hold on your own, or you can step up to the negotiating table and meet the demands of the FEC.
The cheap way, the hard way, or the easy way.
Your choice.

Looking at this from the sidelines and thinking about it, I find that there is a middle ground that is being overlooked... yes, TeamPlayers won their districts fair and square using the weapons that were openly available to everyone. Flaylocks were broken, yes, and Mass Drivers are still out of balance as they do 120% damage to shields instead of the actual 80% to shields that they should be doing, but the majority of EoN is holding onto their lands during these FEC fights. You can call them cheap for using weapons which are known to be unbalanced or doing more damage then intended (and have other glitches that I won't mention publicly as we have been complying video evidence to submit to CCP to fix before widespread use occurs)... but those attacking them are no better when they use exploitable glitches like the melee glitch. So... we have one side using cheap, but openly available weapons, and the other side using actual exploits... so maybe it isn't unreasonable for TeamPlayers to stop the hemorrhaging while they try to sort things out?
Personally, I have 0 interest in PC outside of helping out my corp... I find PC laggy and the game too unbalanced at this point to care to much for it. If all things were equal, then I'd be more interested in it... if we had player created private matches to train, strategize, and get a plan of attack down, then it would be enjoyable, but we don't (as a side note: CCP, please make private matches a reality... where you don't lose gear, don't win anything, but can train and play with friends, since, quite frankly, Academy is probably the biggest joke of an intro I have seen in a game of this size and complexity). Also, I get in enough PUG matches where 50+% of the enemy team is using mass drivers... why would I want to go into PC to fight a whole team using them?
Anyways... my two cents is this... Chicago is no more greedy then anyone else... what does he, or for that matter, any EoN have to gain? "ZOMG I GOTS ISKIES ON A GAME! I CAN BUY STUFFZ... that can only be used in said game... that I lose if I die...". It is, however, not legit to lock down your district through a shell corp that then allows you to gain a profit over the expenditures of the shell corp, this is, for all intents and purposes, an exploit of the original intent of lowering the cost of clone packs (so that PC was not cost prohibitive). If you want to sit at the bargaining table, bargain over a fight... FEC should keep in mind, TeamPlayers, and subsequently, EoN holds all the cards in the situation as they can lock themselves out of PC for as long as CCP allows it. TeamPlayers and EoN should keep in mind that the "we won the game and now we hold all the cards" mentality will only mean you will be the king of nothing as your actions drive more people from PC, and then, ultimately, from the game.
Good job... you won the game, and I respect you for that (and for your skill at fighting), but the question is, do you want the win to be realized, or do you want it to be pointless? Who cares if you hold 27% of PC if no one is playing the game anymore... and what is 100 million isk to you, if you are also saying you're doing it for the good of the game? Let the fake politics go, both sides, and be reasonable... otherwise you're just negotiating over the short term death of the game. |
