It's the reason why medium frames can push to the same eHP as a heavy, and a scout feeling like he's taking on a wall that is not that much slower than him.
Dual tanking needs to be eliminated, so that medium frames aren't pushed above and beyond what they're supposed to be.
Put those damn penalties on shields.
Don't wait for 1.5, because with the reduced penalties on armor and increased HP, all the medium frames will now go bezerk with huge amounts of eHP, with no real downsides.
If you have the penalty on shields, that means a dual tanker has two sets of downsides, rather than one. Making the suit, theoretically capable, a mess on the battlefield.
Edit: For those that don't know, CCP is waiting for 1.5 before adding a penalty on shields. The penalty is increased recharge delay for shield extenders. |

And it looks like when you do that, the eHP values seem reasonable. But when you use both, it looks like waaaaay above the intended eHP. |

Oh and shield is mommy because shields are smaller (less eHP) but more agile.

2x Complex Shield extenders 2x Complex Light damage modifiers 2x Enhanced Armor plates 1x Complex Armor repairer
CPU- 309/394 PG- 63/79 Shield- 408 Armor- 392 EHP- 800 Shield Recharge Rate- 31.25 Shield Delay- 5 Shield Depleted Delay- 8 Armor Repair Rate- 6.25 Movement- 4.72 Sprint- 6.94
Assault gk.0
1x Complex Shield extender 2x Complex Light damage modifiers 3x Enhanced Armor plates 1x Complex Armor repairer
CPU- 275/394 PG- 58/79 Shield- 223 Armor- 625 EHP- 848 Shield Recharge Rate- 25 Shield Delay- 7 Shield Depleted Delay- 10 Armor Repair Rate- 6.25 Movement- 4.64 Sprint- 6.82
Conclusion, the GK.0 has 48 more HP but less CPU/PG restrictions. The speed difference between both these suits is 1.7%, while each suit is being penalized 5.6% and 7.8% respectively. The GK.0 has a way slower over all repair in HP, especially with the bulk of his HP being in armor. Also keep in mind the majority of weapons that are to come will be anti armor and all burst damage weapons are anti armor, therefore shields are more resistant to damage than armor thus their overall HP is higher than what you can see numerically.
1.4 is Dropsuit balance, and it is a big patch so I assume that CCP has done some dropsuit side tweaking, that we haven't been shown yet, to balance what I have stated above.
Something I said in another thread.
The Shield suit is still vastly superior to the GK.0 with higher speed, more resistance to all forms of damage types, snd higher overall repair. |

nope you can duel tank in eve as well if you wish, the point of doing this is to give diversity in my eyes, to truly experiment with fittings and come up with something different...
dont forget if a player duel tanks, they loose something else, speed mods or shield regen speed, or dps, profile damp etc...
i used to fit ships in eve that had bonus's for armour with shield mods, this would confuse the enemy.
i think duel tanking is ok, as every one can do it if they wish, nothing to stop a heavy putting on shield mods as well as armour, but he pays the price of loosing dps. if you take away this ability all fits will just end up being the same, surely...
choice....

Are you sure its his playstyle or the playstyle CCP intended. If you look at a Dual tanking suit you can see that they are not even meant to do that, except the Amarr suit because in Dust they are dual tanks and that is why they have more CPU/PG.For example look at the CPU/PG restrictions you impose on yourself for dual tanking the only reason why it is possible is because the fitting costs aren't higher. If you actually play around with the fitting costs per module and look at which modules synergize best you can pretty much fit everything prototype as long as your not dual tanking, so obviously dual tanking was not intended and if it was it was meant to give you an omni tank but a very restrictive suit with a crappy weapon and bad equipment. |

Ways to force suits not to dual tank: - Remove a low from Caldari suits - Nerf the Armor HP of Caldari suits buff their Shield HP Nerf shield HP of Gallente suits Buff their Armor HP (But make their Armor HP higher than the Shield HP of Caldari suits) - Fitting restrictions per suit, force Caldari suits to not use more than 2 armor modules, force Gallente suits to not use more than 2 shield modules. - ETC ETC I have purposely made these extremely brutal and penalizing ^

this guy is right you are complaining about racial differences lol this is how dust is meant to be. besides that only the amarian can hybrid tank effectively and that is how its meant to be...and even then the amarian logi does not have extreme hp values it has extreme repping values. high armor repp and the ability to tank a decent shield albeit a small one.
and i did not say only heavies will benefit from the armor buffing i am very excited as a hybrid tank any buffing to shields or balancing of armor will only bring my suit closer to what its meant to be.
also ccp is gunna be buffing the racial traits or reworking them this will also help the classes stick more to what they are meant to be |

In EVE, all damage is supposed to be mitigated. While the fights in DUST are generally fought to the death, an EVE player generally fights until their tank is broken and then they attempt to run away. BTW, tank is slang for the portion of your health that you use to ward off damage. If at any point you're taking on more damage than you're equipped to, your "tank is broken". So, if a shield tanked Caldari ship starts taking armor damage, their tank is broken. Also, that Caldari ship will likely die. I'll explain why in the next few paragraphs.
On a ship, you only have a certain number of module slots. Effectively using these slots gives you a competitive edge, so any module that isn't currently giving you a bonus is either a situational item (like an afterburner that could help you get away from the battle), or it's a wasted item.
If you fit one shield module and one armor module, you'll have a little bonus to your shield and a little bonus to your armor. If you start taking armor damage and your shields are empty, that shield module is absolutely useless. Likewise, if you haven't taken any armor damage and are still in shields, your armor module is sitting unused.
If you fit 2 shield modules, they will build off eachother. Having them in tandem makes each one more powerful than just having that module on its own. So, you will have great shields and ****** armor. If you never lose your shields, this really isn't a problem, but if you do lose your shields then you're probably going to die (think of a Gunnlogi that has gone into armor).
This is a simplified description of why dual tanking is technically just wasted space. Unfortunately, in DUST's mechanics, it actually works right now. |
