This game falls so short of EVE in terms of customization and meaning it's completely laughable.
I know you're not just another fotm freak but come on. You sound just like one. Lemme quote it again: DUST Fiend wrote:Too bad I put no points in armor plates because they sucked so hard. Now they don't suck as much and the qq begins. Surprise. I actually still have no interest in armor plates, more or less just poking at the fact that our decisions have absolutely no meaning because they can only relate to how well our Crystal Ball functions.

Basically your choices don't matter because CCP has no idea what they're doing with their game, made obvious by how often balance swings in random ass directions for random amounts of time.

I see what you mean and partly agree with it also. We have different principles though. I need my protective shell so I see the benefit of speccing in them be they shields or armor and now it seems to pay off in a way.

good things? All i see is an increase in MD usage, and more people looking to get proto nades fitted.

Balance between armor and shields? No. You know why?

There's no race symmetry going on. By that I mean there's more weapons available that do more dmg to armor than they do on shields.

You might argue this by saying SR and MD's... true, but SR don't have splash dmg. Flux nades and Locus nades...true, but flux nades don't insta kill. The fact that explosive weapons do more dmg to armor than shields ALONE is stupid. No skill in spamming explosives on the ground to get splash dmg.

There's no real balance unless weapons that have splash dmg gets a hybrid version. As it is, only armor gets penalized with splash.

Also armor still need reps also, while shields don't, and tbh, the current reps are a joke. That needs a buff as well.

I actually invested in armor plates, mostly because I play heavy, and that's basically the only kind of tank I can stack. so yay! I'll get an extra hundred or so armor, keep upgrading and eventually, be able to soak grenades while in my armor. basically, I'll get to actually play as the heavy, not some chump who gets killed because you can either have enough health to not die to direct fire, or you can be fast enough to escape an uncooked grenade.

Have patience ... the harsh reality is that more players are affected by core aiming issues and the armor vs. shield issues than there are dropship pilots and tankers in the game. You are a valued minority, but your needs must be prioritized with the realization that you are a minority. Sucks, and we all empathize, but thems' da breaks... ... cuz dollas yo. Actually, Dropship pilots have faced more bullshit since chromosome than any other person in Dust, primarilly because there are so many different issues that plauge everything about dropships. You want to make money being a pilot? Sure, but you have to go 10 games without getting shot down once to just earn 1 proto dropship, and RDV's destroy at least 1 of my dropships every 7-9 games. Also, logistics dropship pilots are unable to earn any WPs thanks to CCP's negligance in letting pilots earn WP for each player spawned in from a mobile CRU, that issue has been around since dropships were put in the game, and CCP even responded to the issue 5 months ago saying they would fix it immediately.

Dropships have had the same bugs they had since chromosome, where as many of the new fixes they are addressing are all because of Uprising having many different issues upon release. In my opinion, dropships deserve the first buff or update than any other person/thing in all of Dust, because they have been broken for ages, with simple fixes able to resolve the issue. But CCP seems to just not be doing it. I have had patience, believe me, many other dropship pilots and I have HTFU way long ago, and now it's just getting absolutely laughable.

Why would you nerf shields while buffing armor? I'm betting that it goes too far and armor tanks with damage mods out the ying-yang with cut through shields like butter.

Dropships are clearly OP, why is there no nerf in 1.4?

They should automatically blow up if pilots don't hold perfectly still once every 60sec. Right now it's too hard to kill them. If CCP somehow forced them to stay perfectly still for like 15sec, it would make it easier (read: fairer) to kill them.

Also, they aren't colourful enough. It's sometimes too hard to spot them. Make them bright pink.

FG and SL should OHK dropships.

 Turrets should OHK dropships.

Make it so that 1 out of 3 DS gets killed by RDVs.

Right now they don't need to refuel. Force them to refuel every 2min.

Because...clearly dropship pilots haven't suffered enough.

If only the game had any form of meaning or persistence that actually mattered to anyone what so ever, and I wasn't forced to use one or a few highly limited playstyles for months and months on end in order to play another. Oh boy.
 Late response, i know.

After maxing armor, shields and CPU/PG skills i can pretty much spec advanced into anything and do quite well in it.(Minus vehicles of course) Even with some suits using STD modules.

So...prototype is only necessary for something you truly want to shine in.

If you want to shine in everything the game has to offer, shouldn't you have to work for it?

It's not like they just introduced armor tanking... being able to build a suit with high DPS and also a decent tank with armor is exactly why I went Gallente Assault. As a player that is skilled in the art of FPS gunplay, I trust in my ability to efficiently kill opponents and stacking complex damage mods is playing to my strength. This also means that I'm limited to basic plates for the most part, so I'm not getting the best of both worlds. I'm getting the best of one and a bit of the other. My goal is to kill the enemy quickly and move on to the next, not to out HP the enemy while we both dance circles around each other. Armor tanking has inherent weaknesses (movement penalties, complex repper module required for a single-digit regeneration rate), so the balance is in the ability to use damage mods.
yes plus rep tools that can rep faster then any shield ay? find a logi stick with him.
