It has happened a few times that I have been taken out by a LAV, this in itself is not the problem. The issue is that they can drive at you flat out and smash you into a static object (boxes or structures) without taking any damage, and then drive off. I propose that this kind of tactic be made into a kamikaze mission which involves certain death when choosing to attack in this manner. It would get rid of most of the taxi's, and make it necessary to be skilled at driving the LAV instead of just driving around and collecting kills. |

People running murder taxis are driving the rest of us to keep functional AV fits. I'm sure the tankers and dropship pilots really appreciate that. |

This works because your squishy dropsuit acts as a pillow between the LAV and the static object.

I may be squishy but the solid object behind me isn't, the problem is that there is no penalty to the person that employs these tactics. If an LAV hits another, they explode. Why can't this be implemented onto solid, immovable objects. I know that if I run my car into a wall, wall wins.

I have seen this work the other way though as well. I was turret on Murder Taxi express and we compressed this heavy against a wall but that guy stood strong and alive. |

I'm a tanker and a dropship pilot, murder taxi'ing is the most survivable method of playing vehicles in a match, the most cost effective too. For a quarter of my ADS's cost I can do twice the damage. |

When i'm painting the walls red with whiny noobs who can't look both ways before crossing the street, i DO take damage, not as much if i didn't have a nice bit of biomass providing some cushion, but there IS damage to the LAV. Stop whining about LAVs, grab some AV and quit blindly running straight all the damn time, problem solved. |

Heavies don't turn, or move for that matter, that quick. The amount of damage received whilst conducting LAV slaughter by pinning soldiers against static objects is not nearly enough.

LAVs take damage when they pin people to walls. I've blown myself up a few times miscalculating speed. If LAVs get any squishier, scrambler pistols will be the newest av method of choice. |

A more conservative approach is the LAV to take a fair chunk of damage just by hitting another player. Take 2/3 of damage from total health and shields from the other player you hit. |

Or, you could learn to look around you before running in the open.....nah that's too much work, huh? Let's just nerf the LAV's to the point where they just blow up if they point in your general direction.... |

But I don't think they should do anything about murder taxis. I don't even drive one and most of the time, with a bit of skill, you can avoid them. When I do die from them, sadly, it's because I didn't look both ways before crossing the street. |

So you say, because of those damn things I'm always checking my quadrants when advancing to a target.
Yesterday I had the fun of having 2 of them chasing me down and encircling me while I took refuge on some boxes that I fortunately made it to. There was a gunner in one so I wasn't totally safe anyway. I threw down a nanohive, called in my militia LAV and started chucking Lai Dais. Took one of their shields down to a minimum only for them to speed off and be good as new moments later. Fortunately managed to hop in my LAV and haul ass out of there.
Rare is the occasion I can survive such an onslaught especially in open terrain. I'll consider that my luck for the day though. The 4 teammates that they took out before they advanced on me though...just another day in muder taxi-ville

And for the argument that you should look both ways. Should I turn my back to the guys shooting at me to watch out for LAVs that are speeding around the map at all times and come from any direction? Because of a bug you don't seem to hear them when they're behind you. They also somehow disappear on radar even if they're 5 m away. Not to worry though, I'm not gonna complain about it. I will keep AV nades handy. |
