Assaults need some tangible downsides, the equipment slot nerd is a good start, but more needs to be done, it shouldn't be the "go to" suit for every occasion. People need a reason to specialise out of it.

Tried it with a gunner, but the dropship doesn't fit in the caldari MCC for some reason, gallente one it fits fine though. And afk'ers are scarce as late, should have done it during holocron. Will keep trying,

I like to fly dropships into the MCC say hi to the afk'ers, my current master plan is too fly into the enemy's one and get a gunner to kill them but I haven't had the chance yet.
