Needle mechanic is fine as it, that is if it would get fixed. The way it's supposed to work is that you can only pick someone up if they requested the help. Generally it works like that but not always.

Or simply allow vehicle fittings with no turrets. That would be a stepping stone towards actual logistics vehicles as then you can use the extra PG/CPU for remote shield or armor reppers (or whatever).
