I have been playing this game since the early beta given to EVE pilots over a year ago. I have purchased four or five of the original merc packs, and now that i'm almost out of boosters and AUR I'd like ot purchase another one.
The problem is: I don't want any of the gear that's in the current merc packs. They are all themed strongly toward Caldari it would seem and since the final respec I have dedicated myself toward Gallente logistics.
CCP, if you want my money, you are going to have to whip up some more merc packs. I'd be interested in either Amarr or Gallente themed merc packs, but I think especially at the $20 price point it would be cool if there were packs for each race, with a little bit of stuff for every playstyle.
Appropriate feedback to this post from other players should include suggestions for items or types of items to be included in future merc packs. Unwelcome feedback would include people trying to sell me on the current merc packs or arguing their virtues. I know they are cool, I like them, but I want something more tailored to my playstyle. |

I feel that when the weapons get released, CCP should release Racial Mercenary Packs (and even further down the line, Racial Vehicle Packs) instead of this current model. Each Racial Mercenary Pack includes:
Quote:Racial Mercenary Pack 40,000 AUR 30-day Active Booster
-Standard Racial Rifle [BPO] -Standard Racial Pistol [BPO]
-AUR Standard Racial Scout x50 -AUR Standard Racial Assault x50 -AUR Standard Racial Logistics x50 -AUR Standard Racial Sentinel x50 -AUR Standard Racial Commando x50
If you are wondering where the Pilot Dropsuits are, they will in the Racial Vehicle Pack |

I agree with this! I would like to purchase a Scout Merc Pack, with a 30-day Passive Booster. |

This is the pack I bought four of, at various points throughout the early beta. Most of these items are available for AUR individually on the store now, at least. But Yes wouldn't it be cool if there were more themed packs available? I seriously stared at the three packs for a good 30 minutes last night with money burning a hole in my pocket but I just couldn't justify spending money on them since they are so full of stuff I won't use. I guess I'll just go without boosters for awhile because there's no way I'm ripping myself off buying AUR straight up from the market, either.

I'd settle for either racial or role-based. But I'd prefer racial. It seems each $20 pack has come with one "dragonfly" suit to match the role of the pack. My guess is if we see a logi pack it would have a minmatar dragonfly logi suit. it would follow the pattern. |

I'd like a pack that only contained an active and passive booster. I've no use for a sixth Toxin SMG or Dragonfly BPOs. |

I would absolutely love this, it's the "subscription" model that CCP had mentioned experimenting with. I'd take the two boosters and maybe just a small amount of Aurum. Enough to get people hooked on the idea of spending Aurum for items would be a good marketing move for CCP. Let's say $20 buys you 10k aurum and the two boosters? IDK just throwing it out |

It would be so nice to have some different BPO options and merc packs for the other racial variant suits. For instance a standard Minmatar scout, standard Gallente Assault, stadard Gallente logistics..... all useful BPOs.
The top tier pack is nice as it gives BPO's for each of the 'original' racial suit introductions, plus the *2 passive and active 30 day boosters, and some other consumable stuff. But, if you actually put down $100 bucks, and you've bought the previous merc pack w/ the dragonfly scout, or the new $20 merc pack with the dragonfly assault, now you have yet another gallente scout suit BPO, and another caldari assault BPO..... in addition to your Amarr heavy and Minmatar Logi BPOs..... and maybe another BPO assault rifle.
Even with the current in-game suits and weapons, we should be able to see more variety and less overlap in the merc packs.....
Edit: how about:
Recon/Stealth 'stealth' merc pack w/ BPO's for militia or standard dampener, precision enhancer, and range amplifer modules? Damage dealer merc pack w/ BPO's for weapon damage modifiers (Heavy, Light, Sidearm) Speed merc pack w/ BPOs for kinetic catalyzers and stamina enhancer modules....
etc.... each of the above would throw in a smattering of consumable suits, weapons, etc....., along with the typical booster.
I mean it could go on and on, especially given the racial variant merc packs others have mentioned in posts above (Amarr merc pack, Gallente merc pack.... then scout merc pack, Heavy merc pack.....) |

New Idea.....
Why not just have a menu of items you can add to a customized merc pack when you purchase a pack of a certain level?
For instance, if you purchase a $20 merc pack you can pick (for example) the number of items as noted below:
- 1 BPO standard suit (can be worn without needing any SP in that particular suit type) any standard suit of any race (pick from the list)
- 1 BPO standard light or heavy weapon (can be equipped without needing any SP in that parctular weapon type) pick from the list
- 1 BPO sidearm weapon (same deal, no requirements - pick from the list)
- 50 copies of advanced weapon of choice (no SP requirements)
- 50 copies of advanced module of choice (no SP requirements)
- 50 copes of advanced grende of choice (no SP requirements)
Make sure the suits and weapons come in some cool color scheme, throw in a booster and call it a day. I bet CCP would make way more money and you could do this with vehicle packs, etc..... |

That means if you're in the US: $15 for a 1 month booster pack, $40 for 3 month, $72 for 6 month and $132 for a 12 month. Reward your loyal customers. |

+1 to everyone above.
Great ideas and suggestions. One of the most positive threads I've read in my short time here.
I too, would like to see a bit more variety in these Merc bundles. The 3 price tier system is fine, just more choices within each tier. Bonus items aren't much of a "bonus" if you already purchased before and have a blueprint of it.

Good idea, +1.
I think later when they open up player-to-player trading it will mean those that have "extra" BPO's from the merc packs they can collect the other racial variants by trading with other players. I think I have 3 extra scout dragonfly BPO's to get rid of (as well as the Toxin SMG BPO's) so would be a welcome addition!

But one could reason, that-¦s CCPs way of forcing you into buying the higher priced ones. Actually I-¦m also holding back my purchase. I spend already 60Gé¼ and don-¦t need any dragonfly or toxins anymore! But 50Gé¼ is such alot money to spend.....

I'm seeing lots of creative solutions to this problem in the posts here. I really like the idea of $15 for a month worth of boosters. I'd be willing to pay $20 as long as there were new packs every month, and a choice of packs, maybe 4 new packs released every month? I also love the idea of build-your-own packs. What a cool idea! CCP needs to get in here and give us some butt kissing I think. |

I like the idea of themed merc packs with one racial BPO standard weapon and one racial BPO standard suit. Racially themed, like they are already doing for the new contest. Along with the BPOs is an assortment of Aurum gear suited to that role. They could sell all different types, and though running a lot of BPOs could affect the market..... that's going to be awhile from now, and more money means more progress..ideally. |
