In this game the only thing that counts is SP. The old FPSers think that stuff like K/D is the premier stat, but SP is really where it is at (in my opinion). Maybe the way to reduce the tank spam would be to reduce the SP per kill, per damage etc...

Best advice for anyone starting out in Eve right now is do the tutorials. Its not an admission of failure (yeh I know we don't usually like to read manuals). Eve tutorials give you loads of nice kit - free skills and help you with the basic game...
