Please read about the upcoming fix to scanners. Linky Long story short, scans are going to be near instant now, so 360 scanning will be impossible (unless you have a bunch of people waddling around in a circle with scanners).

Personaly, I think they're fine. The problem lies with there being no useful alternative, which can only be remedied with more content. We all know how that's going to go down though.
