As far as invisible swarms, I don't know what tankers are talking about. I always see swarms before they hit me, unless they're coming from behind me or something, in which case I hear them anyway.

While it is relatively easy to use, it doesn't get all the credit it deserves. The lock-on time means you have to be careful when you try to shoot, so you don't die. You also have to be able to predict the swarm's path and the vehicle's movement...
