Hi everyone, after playing a Heavy for about half a year, I have decided to retire it and try something else.
I just created a new alt to play as a Minmi assault, but I am unsure of what type of module load out to go with. Until I reach 4 mil or so SP, I will be running in the standard Assault M-1 whilst focusing on leveling my core skills. Thus far, my fitting includes:
-Standard nanohive -Standard flux grenades -Standard Assault Rifle -Standard Scrambler Pistol
I am unsure if I should run with three basic shield extenders for the high slots and a basic armor plate for the low, or if I should go for damage mods and a kincat. The self rep is great but I'm also curious to know if adding an armor repairer to the low slot will be more beneficial.
Also, I'm wondering if armor plates will affect the M-1's greatest asset: its speed. If I do go for armor, would Reactive and Ferroscale plates be more useful than basic. Any help is much appreciated. |

If you want to boost your armour without sacrificing speed, go with Ferroscale Plates. They have about half the armour of Plates but don't have a movement penalty. |

WWWWWHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ???
do people do this?
Especially if you've "retired" your heavy (and thus won't be SP capping him separately), why don't you just cross train him instead for assault? So you don't have to train electronics, weapon upgrades, core skills, EVERYTHING.... ALL OVER AGAIN?

After work and on weekends, it takes me a roughly 3 days to reach the limit. By having an alternate account strictly for Assault, I can continue to play even after maxing out.
As of now, my Heavy feels somewhat complete: until new weapons and racial suits are released, but it will stay strictly heavy oriented. What SP I gain on that account will be used for later investments. Cross training will be nothing but a waste of SP. |

As an Minmatar Assault your focus are shields because of your speed. Don't worry too much about your low slots, you'll definitely need a CPU upgrade.
Add a damage mod if you wish, I do not recommend it however.
On a side note: you're using a Scrambler Pistol, it get's the Minmatar Assault racial bonus of '+5% clip size per level'. I don't know how much your clip size will be increased by in Proto (Scrambler Rifle), but on the SMG you'll have a 100 size clip.
On the regards of armor plates, I'm not sure how useful those will be as it will lower your maximum speed, as Miles O'Rourke stated, Ferroscale Plates are something you should consider (you do have other better choices).
Best of luck to you. |

Thanks for the advice guys. However, I was thinking, would it be better to run with 2 shield extenders and keep one slot for a shield regulator? |

I don't know about that. However as an Assault you get a 5% recharge rate a level. For PRO you'll have 5 High-Slots, definitely get a Shield Regulator for the 5th slot.
I'm more of an aggressive type, so I focus more on shields. If you're more of a passive type get the Shield Regulator.
Just my two cents.
Best of luck to you. |

My M-1 fit so far includes:
-3 Basic Shield Extenders -1 KinCat
So far, it plays very much like a "hit and run" setup, but it does do well, even against ADV suited players. The sprint increase does help for quick escapes if I feel things are becoming too heated, but against properly geared players, the three basic shields don't hold up for too long. When I build up enough SP for my core skills and the ADV/Proto suit, I'll most likely run a similar fit: shield extenders and kincats. |

I run 2 extenders and an energizer in my high slots. A regulator and a kincat in my lows. You can keep up with a decent amount of scouts this way if you're into speed. Being able to get into and out of action quickly is pretty sweet. |

I would suggest better weapon coverage

I would trade your scram pistol for an smg. Your ar strips shields and if need be your smg can finish off armor.
Your set up as plenty of counters for shields (ar and flux) but adding a counter for armor wouldn't be a bad idea. |

Definitely, an SMG is much more efficient than a Scrambler Pistol regarding the Minmatar Assault bonus. |

SMGs are amazing in CQC, if you're that type of fighter. Especially for minmatar assaults |

A few questions regarding the Min Assault's Sidearm bonus and Scrambler Pistols:
Firstly, with level V in pistols, will the bonus be (6*1.25)+5 or will it be(6+5)*1.25, which is applied first, the Scrambler Operation bonus or the Assault bonus?
Secondly, how does it round? Always up, always down, standard rounding?
Depending on the answers to this a Scrambler could have anywhere between 12 rounds to 14 on a Minmatar Assault. Would quite like to know on which end it lies. |
