Adv smg whips all sorts of ass. Get ADV everything weapon wise no need to protostomp. I run basic Gallente scout with a basic CR or shotty or GEK with ADV smg, no need for proto, except dropsuit upgrades.

Nothing wrong with the shotty. That's almost all I've been using, next to my CR, knives, smg, RMEs, and my imaginary bow&arrow. The shotty is working as intended, close the gap, get the jump on them and break their ranks.
