TBH, I found tanking to be ok in pubs. Never really had a cost issue, because I never fielded top-shelf gear. While I like the way the vehicle rework turned out, I didn't quite think it was needed from my POV in pubs.

RR. 100 meter range, ACOG, nice DPS (maybe a little too much DPS), and bonus to armor killing. Only downside to me is the spool up time, but it's only .2 second right?
