Assault Rifle is a good all around weapon and it doesn't require much skill. Submachine gun is pretty good as well. HMG can be hard because you have to fit it on a heavy suit (and those require a special play style)

They should keep you there till you have around 2 million sp. It should take about 1 and a half months with no boosters and hitting your cap each week. It sounds like a long time, but this game has a steep learning curve and with all the sabotage...

Another thing that helps is to lower your resolution from 1080 to 720, or 720 to 480. Also, after about 3-5 matches, try restarting the game so you can clear your cache. This help to prevent dropouts as well.
