I'm pretty sure this is just fragmented stuff that never really became anything. It's been there for a while. There are things like assault plasma cannons as well IIRC.

The Creo is pretty satisfying to use, although the sound mismatch is a little jarring IMO. It's not as good as a Duvolle but it's a nice piece of kit for when you're not feeling quite so tryhard.
