The most interesting thing is that people are willing to run out and purchase first generation hardware. Which truly is a no no. Also, these next gen consoles won't have that much of a library because the majority of folks will still be on last gen consoles.
Just like when folks ran out to buy 360s and created gamertags like "XBOX360!!!" but they were still playing Halo 2 online. LOL! Hilarious! |

So the support won't be as strong cause devs/pubs will still be making games for last gen (current gen) I still remember when we jumped to PS3. It had nothing. And first wave of units was plagued with issues. I waited for 6 months to get my PS3 so they release newer patched editions that have bit better hardware tweaks... first wave is always in some way broken - fixable or not.
And yeah, I still play some of my PS2 games and heck even PS1 games. I don't see myself throwing my PS3 our of the window in the next 5 years at least. My library is more than big with great stuff still to play. This includes DUST 514 |

I agree it is pretty stupid how people think that the PS4 will mean the end of the Ps3.
All the latest and greatest games will be released on PS3 and PS4.
The platform will continue to be supported however they will probably be harsh to the online titles from this generation.
Most of the games I want come out in 2014. The amount of PS4 owners will be dwarfed by the amount of PS3 owners at launch. |

BF4 on the PS4 will be 32 vs 32 just like it is on PC. ON the PS3 it will not be. So yes, Im getting a PS4 upon its release. Killzone Shadowfall is also being released as a launch title so yet again another reason for me to get a PS4.
Ill still keep my ps 3 though. As far as the PS4 killing dust, I dont think that will be the reason, CCP is doing a fine job of doing that themselves.

I had to repair few of them few times ... the PS1 and Atari 2600 has been a bit of a pain in the ass to keep them going, and also the Xbox, and SPECIALLY the Sega Saturn... But some of my favorite games "ever" are in that consoles, so.. i going to keep them going for as long as possible. |

Yet the ps4 is easier to develop for then the ps3 ever was. So while veteran developers have mastered the ps3 hardware to deliver really great games they will have far easier time developing for the ps4. More over given its architecture PS4 will also be the primary console for developers to port from or PC to ps4 will require minimal work given the thing is in effect a inexpensive gaming PC. |

And, obviously, new games never suffer from last-minute delays or problems resulting from being released prematurely (in order to meet the new console's launch date, for example), are never disappointing, never have bugs or glitches, and always live up to their pre-release hype (or are never over-hyped to sell the console), are never ported over from the older system with only minor upgrades....
Why do you think that video game forums are always filled with so much praise, and so few complaints?
And we all know, from experience, that new consoles are always flawless and work perfectly upon release, never crash, never overheat, and always exceed the expectations instilled in the consumers by their pre-release hype and sales-pitches.

Yeah, i learned to don't get hyped about next gen consoles after the Dreamcast release...yeah... that early. That is why i always wait for the "next gen" to become the "current gen" ... about 2 or 3 years... give or take. Rubbish consoles normally die before they hit the 2 years mark. |

Fox and Pikachu were so damn fast. The real nightmare though was how slow Link was to recover from his Up+B (and just how terrible it was in general). Being knocked even barely off the edge was pretty much a death sentence. Still crazy fun though. |

That is the problem i see... PS3 HD is actually not that bad, and honestly i personally can't see a huge difference from 720p to 1080p... in many ways the PS4 is not Groundbreaking as far as technology goes... just a cheap gaming computer. It's cute that you're nieve enough to actually believe that.
It's funny how, while complaining that a current game doesn't meet their expectations, people will automatically just assume with absolute certainty that the next one will.

PS3 does 3d now and you will only tell the difference between 720 and 1080 if you are sitting too close to the TV or you screen is above about 42 inches. The PS3 is a more advanced architecture than the PS4 but the instruction set is difficult and learning how to unleash its full power is very difficult. Also, memory bandwidth and amount is limiting. You are correct that the "next gen" isn't a step up in tech but really a boost in hardware speed and amount. Computers are due for a technical overhaul because they have been using the same design that engineers came up with in the 60s. |
