New games now are totally free! some of the best on the web are free with purchasable tokens, equipment.. DUST 514 is free with AUR to buy with money and then to be used to buy gear vehicles drop suits etc.. But EVE still remains a monthly pay? Its CRAZY! i know loads of people who have dropped EVE because of the monthly pay. CCP : You need to change this, i guarantee you, if you advertise EVE as a free game all those people will come crawling back:) and everyone knows there's always people willing to pay a little money every so often to boost there gaming experience. Also i think you should integrate customization for suits on DUST as well as ships on EVE :)

Yesssss.
It's not like CCP are normal people who needs money to develop the game, buy cloths, eat lunch and pay their rent. Let's make EVE F2P and cut off CCP's main source of income. |

No. with more people playing DUST and paying for AUR and then EVE players paying for whatever sort of currency they would still get money. also if EVE was free more people would play therefore more money spent on this currency |

And what if CCP makes EVE F2P and 80% of it's players decides not to buy AUR? What are you gonna do? give them a handout? |

Because CCP and EVE fans are stack 10 years in the past .... They don't understand that the market have changed in the past decade, and that most companies are starting to see the MMO F2P model as the "Future" of gaming. Just look at how many F2P games are going to be in the PS4 at launch, and how many companies already announced F2P projects for the next 5 years. |

Yea because DCUO and Dust 514 showed devs that F2P is possible on consoles. Yea and they said mobile gaming was the future too...and then the world produced Ouya.
And we all know how Ouya is turning out. |

F2P also means " Subscription Free ", like Defiance have already done, and also Start Wars. Cheaper to buy games/subscription free/F2P MMO games, are the future. Look at FF14... coming out soon, and they doing exactly that. |

That is not "unique"....other F2P games uses a similar system to unlock mission expansions, and other content.
Its call "Get pay to play". You can unlock all the content in the game with hours, and hours of never ending grinding. |

In other games you buying this expansion from people that made game, in EVE you buying GTC(game time code) from people that playing it, have good jobs and prefer to pay 15$ for fee +some extra cash to buy PLEX'es(GTC) with they may sell to other players for ISK, and not worry about slim in-game wallet.
In EVE there is a whole circle of people who benefit from this system. EVE is not 'old' with it :) this hybrid system makes CCP attractive on marked, and not just for consumers like we, but also for game designers of other company with want something similar in they games. |

just a thought, knowing how much some of my friends pay on these, F2P games, the wave of the future is a bigger moneymaker when, instead of one person spending $60 on the game at the store, they are spending $80-200 on the single game that's F2P. I remember early subscription games quite well. Never played them because it was an expense that could not be afforded but now, I put twenty-five dollars in a month to this game just so I could get passive and active boosters.
F2P is the future because the money made off of the games packages and deals is a better source of revenue |

You can't count DCUO in your example, because it started as a subscription based game while Dust has been F2P from day one,and one could argue the merits of whether Dust is a success or not.Personally at this point,I think it's a failure, and the lack of playerbase kind of proves that.
I'm just speculating, but I'm pretty sure that EVE's subscription base is probably funding the development of Dust right now more so than AUR purchases on PSN.Don't believe it? Ask your self if Dust could survive financially if half of EVE's subs were cancelled.I'd say they would have to pull the plug fairly quick if that were ever to happen.
And Ouya is just a console for indie devs, not a mobile platform.Ouya's problem is that you can get the same,if not better games for a tablet, with the convenience of it being portable for about the same price if you add another controller.
Ouya is an underpowered waste of money that has no real viable targeted market.

I'd gladly pay a monthly subscription fee for DUST if they brought it up to A or AAA gaming standards. I assume that dev's and other ccp employees need to eat and have a place to sleep so I buy AUM. Not a lot of AUM but when I can (passed on the new CoD maps for a merc pack).
In my business clients expect a quality product and that quality comes from $$$ given to me from clients that allows me to stay in business. 1 year ago I shut my doors to the public and started charging a membership fee/made people apply to become customers and business is booming. Dedicated customers and minimal complaints/issues and more time to actually do my job.
Maybe it's a generation gap or the feeling of entitlement or whatever but I don't understand all the whining and bitching over a free game. I'm hoping a lot of this will die down with kids going back to school over the next few weeks! :D |

You know Christmas?
Dust 514 was the FPS nerd equivalent of Christmas.
Christmas was stolen.
It's not so much a generational entitlement thing as an international atrocity.
We're just waiting for the Grinch to give it back now. |
