It'd be like if only one or two weapons were viable for infantry.... Oh wait that is exactly the case.
Why do we play this game? I've put this idea out here quite a few times. Why doesn't CCP rework the LLAV rep tool to be an AOE rep tool instead of this "hey stand still for 3-5 secs and i'll see if i can keep this square on you and THEN !! i can rep you" winky wanky rep tool it got. Changing it to work with an AOE effect will basically just mean that it'll be a very tanky triage nanohive on wheels. ^^ COME ON !! isn't this an awesome idea !! ^^
Basically, instead of targetting a single individual, you'd be passively repping as many allies as could fit within the AoE. I only see this as an option if they split the repair rate (hp/s) between every player in range.
For example (using made-up numbers for illustration purposes):
Single recipient @ 60hp/s, 2 players @ 30hp/s, 3 @ 20hp/s, 4 @ 15hp/s, etc., etc.
While I like the idea in principle, I think that providing full rep rate to everyone in the radius, with zero effort required, might be just a little OP. |

Yeah very true i usually don't include numbers into my ideas as it's usually those that define whether it's OP or not. Though you gotta remember you won't be able to rep through walls (like you won't get ammo standing inside the bubble of a nanohive but on the wrong side of a wall) So yeah maybe if it got something like 100hp/s and a radius of 30 meter that would then get split out to how many are inside the rep radius. It's a lot but ok look at how much damage an AR does That's actually a really really nice idea It's gonna be like calling for you team car in cycling instead it'll be angry mercs steering and they'll come to pimp up your armor / shield
Plus, it would introduce an element of risk, because anyone who wants repair would need to leave cover, and crowd around your LAV like kids gathering around an ice-cream truck!
One well-placed explosion and... well, you get the idea! |

The module it comes with is impossible to use. Tell that to the people I see activating it on their passenger when he hops out so that he can gun down everyone who comes near him while having near-invulnerability until the cycles run out. Except it requires 5 seconds to lock on, plenty of time for the infantry to die. And if they go around a corner the health beam is broken. Or if they take. 5 steps away from the lav. It's much more effecient to just jump out of the car and shoot the enemy, or physically block the bullets so your ally can regenerate his shields (which doesn't require a logistics lav). Anyone defending the current mechanic is bad. Anyone who has faith in ccp making it actually work, I used to be like you :( You COULD try repairing vehicles with it, you know? Even when it was broken as hell back in Codex, it was still neat to drive into a HAV v HAV fight, rep up the friendly one, and then speed away while the enemy one exploded.
Maybe they should change it so it ONLY repairs vehicles an installations, but not infantry?
Seems to me that was probably what they were intended for anyway. |
