it isnt just the opposite side running over people now..... i have been run over many times by lavs that are suppose to be on the same side i am on and it does cause damage when you are slammed into a wall...... i am about to the point of giving them a nice taste of forge fire regardless of their color |

I can confirm this. Slap a top of the line small blaster turret on that thing, get somebody that knows how to shoot it, and you're in business.
Although that just brings us to the question of how blasters can shoot through the shields, through the armor plated driver seat, and hit the driver while doing inconsequential damage to the vehicle itself.
Pro tip: Be sure to leave any vehicles you "Borrowed" in the redline. (or if you have the means, outright destroy them) Those LLAVs get pretty expensive, and we wouldn't want them falling back into the wrong hands, now would we? |

Face it, your assault rifle is not going to kill most vehicles.
lolno at the HAV part. Stabilized blasters are way better at owning LAV's, and dropships. Also, running over LAV's in a HAV will get that said HAV killed fast. Seen it happen, and laughed at the fool who did that. the rest are good ideas.

They seem to work for me. But maybe that's because there's way too many idiot wannabe pilots and I can predict what they're going to do. But I guess that because... well I'm a pilot. |

When I DO get plagued by them, I get my buddy running Proto Swarms with Proficiency 5 and 5 damage mods in my squad to help keep the field clear. He's one that you don't run over, or you're gonna have a very bad time in that LAV. I love making enemies. |

If you're going 20/5 and all your DEATHS are from LAVs, congratulations, you have a weakness. You must be specced to be an infantry killing rockstar, and so don't have any av nades with which to shoo off curious LAVs. You must be too heavily plated to DODGE, or have too little stamina to JUMP ERRATICALLY at the RIGHT MOMENT.
Of course, you could also be unobservant and not LISTENING for their tell-tale sound or WATCHING the RADAR.
You should definitely stop whining about people taking you down. What the hell do you think you're entitled to? |

+1. This is the core of it for me. I know CCP has a fix planned(why, o why does that make me so nervous?) for 1.4.
But it seems to me the first order of business is to make sure that 2000 kg vehicles show up on the tacnet at greater range and sooner than dropsuits do. Surely if a suit's sensor suite can detect a a scout suit it can detect a LAV.
It makes me wonder if there's a lag in updating the tacnet, so that for fast moving vehicles, we don't see them until it's too late. Dunno, but it sucks.
I've always been the guy who breaks out the AV first when the other side thinks they're going to get away with running vehicles unpunished. I've killed hundreds of tanks, prolly the same in dropships, and i don't know how many LAVs since the days of early beta.
But the current LAV situations sucks. Not so much for me personally, but for DUST as a game. Here's to hoping that CCP gets it right the first time with 1.4
Bit the first logical step is tacnet visibility for vehicles. |

Its a mix of FPS and vehicle combat.
NOT JUST FPS.
If he excels at it, great. If he sucks, he will lose ISK.
If I am on the field with a tank, he will lose continuously. Also, you are a dumbass for getting run over so much. Get to high ground!

Not defending murder taxis, but there's a little thing called "situational awareness".
Take your eyes off your minimap once in a while and look around. LAVs are pretty big and are generally most effective in open spaces.
They're kind of hard to miss, particularly if you've already been run over once, you should be watching for them when you're out in the open.
If an LAV manages to "sneak up" on you, it's probably because you weren't paying attention to your surroundings. |

Face it, your assault rifle is not going to kill most vehicles. Do you even play DUST? Proximity Explosives are useless against LAV's unless they hit it dead on while creeping like they are going by a playground trying to kidnap a child (how many posts is ccp going to see asking why they explosions don't effect them). How many people can hit an LAV that is not flipped over with a FLUX and then still have the time to shoot them with your plasma cannon or shotgun before it is gone, and then even if it did flip over the driver can get out and knock it back upright and continue on their way before the toss animation on a grenade can do damage. Another thing MAG did better was the AV Mines 3 of them blocked a roadway and blew up a vehicle... dusts are more like speed bumps that do nothing. And FACE it the assualt rifle should be better at shooting the driver than a breach SMG.... which is a sidearm... and they are better off using a FLAYLOCK as it has longer range. The LAV and LLAV has been the FOTM longer than the flaylock and the caldari logi...chew on that for a while. Whatever DRUGS you vehicle users are on should be put in the water or the kool-aid like in Jonestown.
Do you play smarter?
I do play btw. I just mentioned where to throw them down. Throwing them in some place where the LAV is going to be full speed is not the best planning. 1 Proxy basic is enough to blap most regular LAVs and significantly deshield the tougher ones. Work with other mine layers and stack them up for more damage. The idea is to soften the target up before it enters kill zone/window.
Only flux if you see an lav heading towards the wall for a pinch kill, you'll catch one in the blast every time. Flux one in the open road and you're an idiot.
PLC/Shotgun is very situational and I only pull these out for the most idiotic of drivers who thinks that driving up infantry only ramps is a good idea, you need the high anti-iinfantry alpha however to prevent drive aways. . AV grenades work as well but most of the time its an LLAV and you're not going to be carrying enough grenades to kill it so aim for the pilots head and pull trigger, congrats free LLAV for you to get blown up.

Not trying to own the LLAV itself, I am trying to pwn the driver. Most drivers don't have much of a suit equipped and the militia scatter blaster tears them to shreds while their LLAVs almost remains untouched. A well fitted LLAV without a driver still takes me two heat cycles to kill but the pilot only withstands about a quarter cycle. I don't have access to the more powerful cannons nor do I have room for a heat sink yet so I have no idea what would be best outright killer yet. |

HAV's getting owned by LLAVs ramming them? Yeah maybe MILITIA HAVs.

NO LAV hurts me enough on impact to even threaten my tank. I love it when they run into me. Saves me having to chase them.

Or because they came up from behind you and by the time you hear them its often too late.
Or you catch them sneaking, throw AV nades and its not enough to kill them and they still run you over.
Or you catch them, throw av, and the nade bugs out, blows up, does no damage and then they run you over.
Or you were paying attention. Got yourself into a nice small area that LAVs really shouldn't be driving to, then they drive into them and run you over.
Or you see them coming, but you're on a part of them map that's an open field (80% of all maps in Dust), so you try to move and get out of the way in time, but its too late and they run you over.
Said it before, and I'll say it again. The bumper of a jeep being more effective than the mounted weapon on a jeep is a clear sign of **** poor game design. Keep on blaming the victims though. |

despite what i tell him, my friend always runs his proto in his logi lav, for the very reason that it's harder to get shot out :) (yes i totally see what you mean by that, unfortunatly it doesn't take too much skill to weave and mess up the enemy gunners shots so they all miss. what i'm saying is, it's not a valid tactic that works all the time, and now you see it even less since MLT lav's cost money. i pretty much only see limited ED lav's and LLAV's nowadays. |
