I was trying to think of things that could use a nerf or buff.
BUFF:
Shotguns! Shotguns are pretty much useless in this game. Once in a while you'll have an exceptional game, but its just that, EXCEPTIONAL. The strafing hit boxes, there low range and damage output to RoF makes them not worth using if you actually want to succeed on a decent level in this game.
NOOB Lobbies. This game needs to add noob lobbies. Sending lamb into slaughter is not good for the player base. If you don't think that new players should get their own "Training Grounds", then I assume you are one of those pathetic players that kill BPOs and think they are God of New Eden because they went 12-0 for once during a match.
NERF:
Keyboard & Mouse. It needs to be taken out of the game. Its not fair to controller players, and consoles are meant to be played with controllers. Controllers don't belong in PC, and KB&M doesn't belong on a console shooters.
Mass Drivers. I did some thinking about this one. In a game that has Forge Guns, Flaylocks, and gives you 3 grenades to start with. A weapon that spams explosives doesn't have a place in the game. Explosives should always be limited as much as possible because the skill element leaves. All weapons in this game have damage drop off as the range increases (Except Snipers and Forges, but they have their own balancing) that makes up for it) A Mass driver can cause damage or get kills at all ranges, and doesn't require anything but spamming the trigger. You can argue that Mass Drivers take some skill, but it still allows you to just throw skill out the window and spam explosives at someone.
LAVs. Basically the only thing that needs to be nerfed is the Logi LAVs, 5000+ HP for a LAV is ridiculous.
MCC. Do away with it. Having a "Safe Zone" will just enable AFKing. You can't stop someone from trying to AFK, but at least put them in harm's way for trying.
I really thought about it and think that this game is okay so far as far as balance. As things get added, the status quo can always change |

A Controller can NEVER match KB&M. That isn't even a debate. That is why consoles and PC players have become so polar over shooters. KB&M is 100x more accurate and precise.(That's been proven in actual studies many times over the last 15 years).
I have yet to see a PC player come onto DUST and do better with a controller. I play PC too, I've used KB&M almost just as much as controller. KB&M and BY FAR easier. The human brain knows how to coordinate a mouse better than an analog stick any day. This is why we don't use controllers to surf the internet, play Minesweeper, or play shooters on a PC.
If you use KB&M, you suck as a player. If need to use KB&M in order just to play this game, you suck as a player. If you have higher accuracy with a KB&M you are the best player, because its all skill. When it comes to shooters, especially twitch shooters(Which DUST actually is, no matter how much you deny it) KB&M will always be so far ahead of controllers.
That's why controllers need aim assist for 99% of the players who use them, and that still doesn't even come close to leveling the playing field.
And as far as Mass Drivers. If you use the Mass Driver and it is your best weapon... well, that's all I need to say about you... Its called "Noob Tube" for a reason, because its so simple to use that noobs flocked to it. Funny how every other shooter ever made since CoD MW2 has taken efforts to reduce explosive launchers, but in DUST its different, because... because... because why? Oh yeah: 1. You have limited ammo. BUT yet you get more than any other shooter provides for noob tubes... so that doesn't hold water... 2. They reload slow. BUT every weapon in DUST reloads slow, and last i remember it took 3 seconds to reload a tube after every shot in CoD MW2. So if it was a noob tube in MW2, its not in DUST?? 3. You can kill yourself with it. BUT you can do that with lasers and SCRs blowing up in your face. Your own grenades going off to close to you. Yes, hitting you tube on something near you just like all other shooters with tubes.
So its a noob tube in every other game but DUST, right?
Listen, Tube users have been in denial since FPS first implemented them. They'll argue complete bullshit and try to justify it until they are blue in the face. Its a noob tube, you use it because you are a NOOB (i.e.- a low skill scrub) |

How many bullets does it take to kill a player in this game? How many tubes??
Keep trying NOOB. Just accept yourself for what you are |

Just accept yourself for what you are My GEK-38 with Prof 5 takes 14 bullets out of a clip, lets assume 20 if some bullets miss, of 60 to take out a moderately tanked medium suit so thats 4 clips so I can kill so thats 12 people a MD with out fluxes takes 4(if not more for Cal suits) shots out of 6 in a clip to do the same, With fluxed 2 MD rounds for the same target. with 3 fluxes thats 6 kills 3 fluxed targets and 3 non fluxed 12 kills vs 6 kills. Also, the MD user needs to sacrifice their ability to use AV nades unlike a AR user. Enough with the Insults not need to get angry it's just a game.
Wow, your flat out misinformed, bad at math, or just lying... MDs are noob tubes, made for noobs |

As far as a I can figure a bullet in this game is about 5.56mm wide. The damage it causes is 34-40HP. The damage has a drop off of some kind.
Now, can someone fill me in how wide the splash of a MD is? What its damage is? And what its damage drop off is?
Here's a fun little test. Go into a game with a stop watch keep track of the time in the game where you don't hear a MD round being fired. If you can get over 5 seconds, its probably because the game is over.
If it's not a Noob Tube, or not effective to the point of being viable, then why is it the 2nd most weapon used in matches? Only the AR is used more, but that's because ARs are traditional and familiar. |
