Imo melee could use with a few minor changes.
1) - decrease the melee animation time by about 20% it worked wonders for switching weapons and I think it would help melee a lot as well.
2) - increase the base damage by about 80%, I'm pretty sure I could beat on a standard proto suit for about a week and not kill them.
3) base melee damage on the suit, heavier the suit more the damage, so if a heavy manages to hit you with his slow suit you should definately feel it.
finally a change that I personally think would give melee a purpose in this game, make it so a melee hit will ALWAYS break shields. if the damage would be enough to do more then the targets shields then carry the damage over, but otherwise make it break the shields.
this would give melee a strong use outside of just getting the last hit, and would also give a slight weakness to shield tanks at the same time, would also make for a strong opener when sneaking up on people. |

Melee is pretty much useless in this game.
yep thus why I want it improved, the ability to break shields would at least give it a purpose, and to those who think it would be OP, it's not easy to even land a hit with melee, let alone do it reliably or frequently.
I can see it happening, but I can't see it happening frequently.

Melee is pretty much useless in this game. If you think that, you're just doing it wrong. Melee isn't for "frontline" assaults (the act, not the dropsuit), it is for sneaking up behind your target and smacking the **** out of them. The only time melee is for "frontline" assaults, is when your opponent is dumb enough to be within arms reach in front of you.
ya I kind of pictured the breaking of the shields useful for this reason. |

I finish guys off with melee at a rate of about 1 per month, some guy will be down to about hull if it was eve and i'll be out of bullets and at that time i'll try to land a melee.
any person who thinks they could straight rush shield tank Ar users land a melee hit, pop their shields and then finish them off will go bank rup pretty quickly I suspect.
you might be right it could be broken but I'd run it through tests first, I highly doubt the shield tanks would all migrate to armor tanking just for this weakness. it still has so many massive advantages over shield tanks that this one tiny flaw wouldn't really change much. |
