I guess all those ScR's, MD's, HMG's and FLP's I keep seeing are my imagination. Not to mention snipers, but that really isn't much of a front line thing. |

So yeah, you remember the kills from other weapons because, well, they're memorable. Actually explosives have been doing a number on me lately. ScR's I see quite often as well. AR related kills would probably keep pace if you always fight at mid range, especially with the number of BPO's and the fact that it's the only full auto light weapon at the standard level. Yet you never take the obvious factors like BPO's, the fact that it's a starting weapon, and cost (last check the GEK is ~6k less than the comparable Assault ScR) into account. Yet I'm still seeing plenty of all of the weapons I mentioned. |

Give it a rest ... posting the same thing on every single thread isn't gonna get you what you want. Seems to work for the AR nerf brigade. More power to him. So you keep saying, yet nothing is getting more AR friendly. The AR is just as limited in niche scenarios as it always has been. |

Buster Friently wrote:Yes, meaning that it isn't very limited. Every nerf makes the game more AR friendly. It is general, which means it won't be useless in most scenarios and that is intended as it's a general weapon. Also a nerf to any weapon is a buff for any other weapon which can be used in the same operational range. It's not JUST the AR. |

True enough, except it pretty much is just the AR due to the nerfs primarily focused on anything that starts to approach AR utility. The AR is currently way too good at being a generalist weapon leading to it being used everywhere effectively. Basing the idea of power on popularity is fundamentally flawed, especially given weapon diversity here. Playing most shooters has you using what amounts to AR-like functionality in a variety of varying shapes that in reality do the same thing.
We don't have as wide a range of options which replicate that so of course it's going to create a flock of people heading towards the only thing remotely similar. There is currently only one alternative that preserves that functionality which is very familiar to the vast majority of us, and that is gated behind a lvl 4 skill with no try before you buy option in this SP grind of a game. It's also more expensive than than same nearest competitor. That, along with the fact that BPO's and the starter fits reinforce the role of the weapon, is the source of it's popularity. |
