Not true. the Amarrians use all sorts of weapons on the ground, even conventional bullet-shooting rifles. They prefer, however, anything that fits the 'cleansing with fire' trope.
Laser and plasma weaponry both fit, and as such are commonly used by empire forces.
The way the plasma cannon IS NOW, should be an amarrian weapon. It functions exactly like the Amarrian 'Arc Cannon' described in the Templar one novel. IMO, both should exist in game with the following differences:
Amarr: Arc Cannon style weapon similar to what we have now, logs a slow moving ball of plasma, limited range, plasma bursts over a wide area upon impact (3-4 m? ) causing good splash damage. More effective against infantry than what exists now, slightly less effective against vehicles than what exists now.
Gallente: Fires a highly compressed plasma bolt at high speed and with a flat trajectory, making it more of a precision weapon. Much less splash damage ( 0.5 - 1m ? ) with high direct damage, low splash damage. Less effective against infantry, but much more effective against vehicles than what we have now. |

Wrong! Gallente favor hybrid weapons, making use of both railguns and blasters, though with a slight bias towards blasters. Due to the limited range of blasters though, many gallente naval ships are outfitted with railguns to combat the longer range MISSILE combat the Caldari favor. |
