I've seen a lot of people calling for matchmaking to be completely or partially decided by equipment, and I personally feel that's the best way to go, at least for the BA. I may be reaching here a bit, but for those of you who played the 1st Final Fantasy Online, they had that level sync deal, so I could take my level 70 Red Mage and actually have meaningful, entertaining play time with my friends level 27 Thief. The only hit the high level player took from level syncing was any skills learned above what the sync level was were unavailable, i'm pretty sure things like HP and MP stayed the same, but don't quote me on that. I'm making this reference not to say "use that exact same system", but the spirit of the idea is a good one in my opinion. I understand where TechMechMeds is coming from, and there could be plenty of ways around his valid point. Maybe (and this ain't my idea, seen others recommend this or something like it) a tier system based on gear. Lets all be realistic here. Gear is far and away the largest deciding factor in the outcome of pretty much all of the battles in the BA right now. People can claim if I used different tactics, or "played better", I would be just as good and/or effective as any vet. That's a load of bullshit. I say If you don't have a low level dropsuit set up to come harvest my tears (yea i'm a noob, day 3 baby, don't know what that right side number under the Kill Count represents but, not to brag, mines pretty big ;) ((what is it, newberrie? Did I spell that right? I don't think I did)) ) then you can't join the lower tier matches. If you really want to crush my hopes and dreams, an advanced player could easily (guessing at this, don't really know personally) throw together a cheap low tier suit to jump into the low tier matches. And of course (again, not my idea) you have the option of playing all the same types of matches sans the tier requirements. I don't think vets need high level gear to train noobs. If you want to impart your wisdom upon me and make me a better player, lead by example and show me your killing skills and strategic superiority by using the garbage i'm currently stuck with. I know this isn't the case, but if vets can't still dominate while wearing the same suit of old RC Cola cans held together by duct tape that I got on, then I would delete Dust with the quickness, but again, I know that's not the case. Another plus to the FF level sync system, when your high level character synced up with a low level character and y'all went killing, the high level character received XP as if he was a low level character. It was a benefit for the Vets to drop down. Maybe incorporate this system. If your a Dust vet and your running a clinic in a low tier match with low tier equipment, you deserve a SP or ISK boost or whatever. Get the vets to come out of their Fort Knox-esq suits and put down their MassFlaylock15 Hand Cannon 5000 (with or without can opener) and the game gets better for everyone. This SHOULDN'T give noobs any advantage over Vets, as experience is always the best tool, be it video games or real life. I don't think the over all outcome of matches would be effected to much, but i'll tell you this (gets ready to write a check he doesn't know if he can cash) if you vets had the same crap as me, and I caught you one on one away from your heard, you better believe i'm gonna drop you like an AIDS infected baby covered in 90 weight gear oil (and I say that in a loving way lol). It's the BATTLE ACADEMY, what the **** do vets care what equipment is or isn't allowed in the absolute earliest matches available to the newest of players. Although, I guess it would be a lot harder to farm us for SP and ISK if this..........ohh..........OOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...........
