Technically it's a No respec thread, so someone else has to kill a different variety of fluffy animal. I'm thinking Panda.

I could not read that whole list. I got the gist after the first 3. Bottom line... this is a FPS with MMO aspects not a MMO with FPS aspects.
I have played eve for 8 years ... I don't expect respecs.
I have played Dust since Beta. From my FPS I expect to be able to 'play every class'. You can not do that in Dust.
To CCP ... I am a 15m SP Merc. I have played for over a year. I have NEVER fit a heavy suit, fired a heavy weapon, along with most other weapons in the game.
Why? because there are no respecs ... which I would pay good money for. Not because I want a win button when there is imbalance. but because FPS fill a different role in my gaming life them pure MMO's they cater to my mood more. When I want to snipe I snipe when I want to barrel in recklessly I play the tank.
If I had one game to compare the Dust arctypes to it would be Team Fortress. Your mood dictates what you play and sometimes I want to be a heavy and sometimes I want to be a spy.
Now I can get on board with in Dust I can't change that every death/round. Or maybe not every week. But the fact that from the FIRST DAY I create a toon, I have to commit for life (literally) every SP I earn to an arc type... just breaks the FPS mold to much.
I love the idea of merging MMO long term planning with FPS gratification, but part of the gratification is changing arctypes.
CCP PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY ... once a week I will pay you 5 dollars for the opportunity to respec my SP. So that week if I feel like experiencing a different aspect of the game I can do so. I have only experience 10% of what your game has to offer because I am terrified of 'wasting' SP.

So... I have just under 9 mil sp, and yet I have a sniper fit, an assault fit, a heavy fit, all along with my baseline logi fits. Granted, l don't have proto gear in them, and the heavy fit in particular is all STD/militia, but its fun to play around with the other roles as you noted. How can you not do any of this with nearly double the SP I have? I guess you could be a tanker, that looks pretty expensive, but for me, I'm looking forward to having all kind of sweet gear in multiple classes when I get to 15 mil SP!
Are you unable to have fun or succeed if you aren't out there proto stomping? Are you worried about your KDR or something? If that's the case, perhaps you should be looking elsewhere than CCP to place the blame. Just chill out and have fun with some basic gear for crying out loud! It's just a game, who cares? |

Quote:8. Just reset all SP!
I've seen this one thrown around many times, mostly by new players. I would like someone to show me an MMO that gives you as much of a fighting chance against a one year vet as this game does. While yes, vets do have more SP than you and probably always will, no other MMO game I can think of allows you to be as effective against older players as this one.
We've also already had our SP reset several times, so... yea.
The only thing I have a problem with is this line and ill explain why. Sure, this game gives a great fighting chance against vets, which in other MMOS just simply isn't the case. If your skilled enough, and have an idea for what your speccing into, a 1 week old player can put a pretty good fight up against a 5 month old vet. HOWEVER, I would like to point out that most MMOS separate Vets from Noobs. The battle academy is a good start, but its pretty poor. As soon as you get out of it, the game goes wayyyy down hill. The ability for players to choose when they can fight a vet is what I think is needed. At that point, I would be much more inclined to agree with this particular point |

Totally agree. The academy should really last a lot longer, maybe even up to a million SP. |
