Before you spend one SP please think about this. You will not get a redo so with that in mind I have a few suggestion that will improve your game play.
1. Put your SP in base stats first. Shield and Armor is a must. Remember a wise man builds his house from the ground up.
2. Stay away from FIM. Think what is your style of play and pick that weapon. If the weapon you chose sucks, stick with it and make it work until you have SP to try another. Also read forums there is a vast amount of data so please read.
3. Squad up. Find people at random and run together. Mob mentality works if you do it well. Do not stay clustered for your easier to die by a grenade. Within 25 Meters should work.
4. Team work. Help the person next to you group target. More guns on target means a quicker death
5. A militia AR works just as well as an advance one if you skill into it correctly.
6. Have fun, trust me things get weird around here and there is no use to get angry. Go to forum vent, calm self, then go back and try try again.
If you have a tip for new players please help them as much as possible. |

+1
Also a bit more about #1 & #2
1. Passive skills are your friend. The dropsuit upgrades tab is a great place to start if you're itching to spend SP but aren't sure what you want to do long term. Those upgrades will help you because they apply to all infantry suits. Be careful though some of those supporting skills apply to specific mods so don't spend SP on them unless you're planning to use those mods.
2. Militia gear is your friend. Before spending SP on gear try it out with the militia version. The Militia may cost you ISK, and it is the weakest version in its class, but it won't cost you any SP or AUR to purchase and use. Try before you buy, a little ISK spent on militia gear can save you a lot of time grinding SP. (Note: some gear does not have a militia version, to test that gear spend only the SP required for the minimum level.)
Avoiding flavor of the month builds is a huge asset in keeping the game fun. Play what you like even when its not "the best" balance passes will be ongoing and once you spend SP it's spent so use what you enjoy
Cheers, Cross

It's hard to get the mindset to train your 'core' skills i find as you're always wanting that 'next level' weapon or suit... :)
Still, food for thought, once i have my base weapon it's core skills all the way for me. Good tips! Thanks. |

Core skills are not necessarily the best route to go first. Only if you dont know what route to go/ or what your play style is I guess.
if you are going infantry:
an advanced suit (cant stress this enough) and weapon of choice is paramount. You can fit stuff without spending so much on PG/ CPU (a stupid sized SP sink) and your weapon wont shoot flowers.
get Level 4 for shields sure - but get extenders up first. Complex modules give you way more HP - 66HP base per module
then work on level armour core skills if you want to 4
(been respeccing since replication) |
