Just played an ambush (which was full) that didn't have it's first kill until 5 minutes into it (the second kill happened 30 seconds after that). It took me close to 7 minutes (and a full lap around the bridge map starting in the city) to find my first red dot. |

If they were larger, dropships and lavs would be used to transport, and players would actually have to use tactics as complex as defend. Yeah, we're not even that complex now.
Maps need to be bigger, not smaller, much bigger. |

For ambush and OMS some of the maps are ridiculously large... with essentially no action happening the entire time.
I've had 16v16 matches where I couldn't find a red for 4-5 minutes... that's ridiculous. If we enlarged the maps it would only get worse.
Transport vehicles are unnecessary for 16v16 and generally just take a gun from the field.
That's why you don't see logi dropships after about 30s into a PC battle... they serve essentially no purpose except establishing high ground positions.
Maybe once we're at 32v32 and the maps have enlarged somewhat will transport vehicles be useful. |

I agree. Maps are too large for 16v16. There are hotspots but many spots on the map are just deserted with a lousy 32 player count on these maps. BF3 works better 12v12 on console with Rush since areas are abandoned to go ahead while on PC Conquest is marvelous. But Conquest on PC? Especially on Armored Kill? It just doesn't fit... |

Take the bridge map for example.
In that game fights are either in the city or on the bridge... but almost never in both... not enough players.
The only people who want absurdly large maps are snipers. |

The only people who want absurdly large maps are snipers. Not true. I rarely snipe, but IMHO, Dust maps should feel as open world as possible. This would add to available tactics making transport, staging, etc more important and providing a more immersive feel. It's true that battles would be less immediately accessible, but I think that would help counteract thee lobby shooter feel that Dust currently has. |

Just adding my two cents, but I don't think the problem is that the maps are too big or too small PER SE...
But that the design of the maps means that more or less when people group together, it ends up being a defend/assault game with hotspots (while the rest of the map never gets used), or if people don't group together (which is rare tbh, almost always one team has an organized squad, and everyone else tags along with them), then its a cat and mouse game.
The issue is that the only time maps are large are in game modes like Skirmish where there's real incentive for people to not just clump together, and defend a position. And because of the design on the maps to accommodate the game mode, the maps are usually just NULL cannons in the middle of nowhere, with sparse, empty space between each other.
Game modes like Domination are prime examples of large maps made small by bad design (although prefer smaller maps, and quite like the design). Simply because there's no incentive to run about, causing people to clump together and hold down the NULL cannon.
Of course what I say isn't absolute. The Skirmish map with the pipeline and two gazebo like depots is great (but still has hotspots) in most gamemodes, but what I said does apply to the city map where there is simply a city and nothing around it on skirmish. |

The maps need bigger AND increased player count. and no I am just beginning to use sniper rifles and I USE A MELEE WEAPON, YOU MIGHT HAVE HEARD OF THEM THEY ARE CALLED NOVA KNIVES. I want them bigger to have more use of vehicles, especially dropships and I want more players so I can stab more people. |

The maps are large for just 16vs16 because in Uprising, CCP tweaked the maps for 48 players. |

Aside I'm glad the spawn death issue is receding. There was only one spawn night that was total bull ******. Loads better to dying within three seconds of spawning because it started you among red dots. |

You've still got a pretty large chance of spawning among reds. |

You've still got a pretty large chance of spawning among reds. Then again I only played about half a dozen ambush and/or ambush OMS. Maybe luck was involved.
