does anyone know what the benefits of going up the remote tiers apart from being able to put down an extra explosive. All other stats seem the same |

Love to jump on any RDX thread. They're pretty close to the same except their spawn speed after throwing them down and the amount you can have active on the field at any one time.
Limited benefit to RDX, but can be a big benefit to Proxys if they EVER get them to detonate correctly. Currently proxys detonate off a bad physics engine hitbox (an error which CCP knows about) which means that they generally won't detonate on an LAV driving over them unless they're moving very very slowly.
I stack up a few proxys and throw one RDX in the middle when dealing with carmageddon players. They're shocked when I pop their LLAV in one shot and have no idea how I pulled it off (Because you're being a tool driving in cirlces around the exact same spot 200 times in one match and I'm just sitting here watching waiting for you to do it 201 times, jaggoff).
It's an SP sink but so rewarding popping some jerk's quarter-mil LLAV with 3k worth of equipment. |

thanks you explained it all very well. Activation time does sound like a benefit. Is it significant?
I was trying to do what you were with proxies and they wouldnt go off - I was putting one down with 3 remotes for example.. Now I know why. Thank you. Will try your way.
I really like remotes but they definitely need to be rethought and worked on. Particularly, individual detonattion through the minimap or pointing/ aiming at the direction of the RE, stickiness etc

RDX will detonate personal Proxys. Proxys will not detonate RDX though. And with the delayed detonation it's a pain. The only LAV's you're gonna pop while not being there to watch will be totally un-modified militia types (and even the BPO trolls throw a few shield extenders or armor hardeners on to prevent that)
Also, as to the activation time, that's only useful if you're baiting infantry into a trap since all Mine activation levels got a pretty nice boost about a month back. I plan on hitting 4 at some point as Proto are just too much of an SP and ISK sink unless you've got proto everything else. |

Different RE types alleviates this problem and allows you to defend multiple terminals at once, or defend a terminal while fighting with the other set. |

The remotes are fine. No need to mess it up for everyone if YOU can't use them properly. Work on your battlefield awareness first. Just saying.

your an idiot.
remotes have been deployed in the game with little thought as to how they should work
has nothing to do with battlefield awareness. Something I am positive you know nothing about. |

This is more an appropriate comment for War Room or General Discussion.
Most of us here in the Training Grounds actually want to legitimately help people. If you can't find a way to do so perhaps your attitude and personality would be better off in the above forums.
Just sayin' |

I find it funny that someone uses remotes for a couple of days only. Then that person says they should be fixed cause they can't use them properly. BTW it would help if you don't call people idiots. But I'm the bad guy huh! JUST SAYING! |

You are an idoit.
I didn't say they should be fixed. I said they havnt been thought about when implimented. Their implementation is rudimentary at best
You also assume a lot.:
Who said I have only been using them for a few days? I have used them since E3 build. And specced higher .
what I asked was what was the benefits going above first tier as damage is the same and being able to place one extra remote doesn't add much for the amount of SP to be spent.
And as an assault I can't carry two different remote styles. But now having picked a second suit (a logi) I now can. So when the previous poster explained you can carry different types doubling the amount it made sense.
Otherwise to an assault there isn't much difference.
But that's ok. You keep plugging away.... |

Just tossing another comment down, I was honestly upset to find REs do not stick to collision planes. This upset me for multiple reasons. First, it makes it harder to confirm that they've "seated" correctly on the ground as honestly they just flip and fail to land flat and fizzle out about 15-20% of the time. Yes, it really is that bad, at least, AT LEAST.
Without being able to stick them to walls or objects it makes it easier for them to be spotted at most consoles or even around most corners as I can't plant it on the corner itself.
I had also hoped for this, and requested it, way way back when we could jump out of vehicles and they would keep rolling for some distance as I wanted to create suicide-bomber-taxi. Alas, those days are gone, as are free LAVs you don't mind destroying.
Now you just have to run over people instead though which is so much more rewarding than bombing them with a suicide truck, amarait? HERPDERP! (Yeah, I don't actually mean the aforementioned - this is a "big word" that means the thing or subject immediately preceeding. That murder-taxi trash needs to go, but give me back free cars and sticky REs to do THIS madness instead.)
xAckie does have a point that RE's were not the most well-thought-out piece of equipment in the DUST arsenal of tools. Occasionally you'll notice that someone standing on top of a console won't get hit by an RE right below him. You know why? No, seriously, I'm asking. Is it a bad explosion mechanic?
Don't worry, it's a shaped charge.
What shape?
Spherical.
AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
They work now, kind of but they've been nerfed down from what they were a year ago while their activation time has been sped up significantly though nobody really noticed because nobody used 'em (Hi, I'm Nobody) and explosions were still enough to 1-shot almost every infantry. Now we see Caldari just shield-tanking that nonsense and shrugging it off because Shields = Explosion Damage? What's that?
I will agree though, no need for name calling from anyone though. Training Grounds is a better place than that. |

So much fail by an individual. Your reading and comprehension skills are appalling.
Rudimentary implementation isn't about being 'dangerous and unpredictable', its about CCP not properly thinking about remotes as part of gameplay before implementing them: no individual detonation, no stickiness, PM's do far less damage than AV grenades, no modules for vehicles say which highlight where vehicle explosives are, or dropsuit modules for infantry that can support or hinder remotes etc.
Instead, what we have is a basic action of throw them on the floor - great gameplay design...
(and here is just one topic in the feedback/ request forum about how remotes or PMs could be improved: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=82610&find=unread) |

Ahh, the fizzle pop remotes?
Sorry to hear you have problems with them.
I don't have problems with them anymore.
Send me a game invite and I'll show you how to limit your " Fizzle Pop " remotes and why they fizzle.
p.s. I hope you like my paragraph structure xAckie. |
