I haven't tried using the laser rifle since it took it's first big nerf. It apparently has had some tweaking since then which I am totally neutral on seeing as how I haven't changed my skill plan since then.
This weekend though I encountered one LR user that stood out. Who ever they were they were using the Viziam or however you spell it. The story was any time I tried to have a firefight with this person at medium long ranges (optimal LR range) no other light weapon ripped through hitpoints like this merc's weapon when I was trying to get some shots on them.
I don;t know how many SP this person put towards LR's but I have seen an example of what is possible with them. I mean at the proper range with it's boosted damage only a few brief moments of being zapped were hurting bad.
I believe whatever current changes the LR's are under need to be fully understood before asiking for a nerf or a buff. They seem to be quite effective in the right situations. I have a hard time imagining this particular merc's LR doing even more damage, I would have died in a near instant in that case. |

IMO what needs to happen with the LR is give it a sane cap for the damage it inflicts and then speed up the build up to that cap.
That would let the LR get to damage you can use to kill things without blowing your entire mag in one go.
I also think that CCP should change what happens after you let go of the trigger. Damage shouldn't drop back to 0 instantly. If it's based on a cool down system instead mercs will be able to get full use out of every mag. |

You do realize that the majority of people basically waste an entire clip of ammo when using the AR since they're just spraying and praying especially when in cqc. Besides I bet why most people think the laser sucks is because either they don't know how to use it or they can't aim for **** so they blame the gun. The gun doesn't suck in fact when you know what you're doing you can kill faster than assault rifles, scramblers, and even the tac. Hell I've gone toe to toe against two people using the AR thinking they could ambush me. There are really only two things that I think need to change with the laser and that's the iron sights and the feedback damage when you overheat.[/quote]
Yeah would like the overheat to deal damage over time for the time you are in overheat, if you go over the heat bar, damage goes through the roof but you are taking 20-50 damage per second, and it ramps up the farther past oh you go. Dont know if damage should still be done when not firing and cooling down |

Honestly the laser rifle is just one of those weapons that need CONSTANT vigilance of your surroundings. I would love if they increased the range of the gun, but i hope that wouldn't change the minimum range of the gun. Also I don't use the amarr suit at all and I can tell you that you don't need the suit to allow you to use the weapon properly on certain occasions you'll be able to kill two people without ever letting go of the trigger or overheat. |

I am with a buff to the fall off range. Damage is fine, any increase to it would be result in a major unbalance. |
